Neighborhood Watch Program
• Assist existing neighborhood watch groups
• Encourage formation of new NHW groups
• Advertise Neighborhood Watch Program on San
Bruno Police Department Website, Nextdoor,
and San Bruno CityNet.

– Actively supporting SBPD Chief Johansen to
encourage NBW groups
– Participated in meetings and have several
more scheduled.
– Have tentative dates in other areas
throughout the city.

Goals for 2024
The Crime Prevention Committee is making an effort
to work with other city committees, such as the
Community Preparedness Committee to share
information.
Our committee strives to continue to work with Chief
Johansen and the Police Department to establish
more Neighborhood Watch Groups so they
encompass the majority of the city.
We look forward to in person events in the future.

Special Service Award and Extraordinary Service Award
Extraordinary Service Requires Minimum of 25 Years of Service
Nominations Submitted by Recognized San Bruno

RECOMMENDED ACTION
Adopt a Resolution Approving the Recommendation of the
Service Award Committee to Award the Recognition of
Extraordinary Service Award to Harry Costa by Naming the Stage
at Centennial Plaza After Him (Posthumously) With Placement of
the Plaque on or Near the Stage; And Approving the
Recommendation of the Service Award Committee to Award the
Recognition of the Extraordinary Service Award to Mike Palmer
With Placement of the Award Plaque Near Diamond 1 in City
Park.

Do not approve the Service Award Committee’s recommendation to award the Recognition of Extraordinary Service Award to one or both nominees.
•Award the Recognition of Extraordinary Service Award to both nominees, but place one or both plaques on the Unity Sculpture instead of the recommended alternative locations.
