Animal Shelter Advisory Committee Regular Meeting Minutes June 9, 2021 at 6 p.m. Virtual Meeting – ZOOM I. CALL TO ORDER Please note that all committee meetings may be recorded and uploaded to the City’s website at www.sanmarcostx.gov In the absence of Chair Dr. Jeff Jorgensen, the meeting was called to order at 6:13 by DerryAnn Krupinksy. II. INTRODUCTION OF NEW MEMBERS a) Stephanie Nelson - Citizen at Large b) Diane (Stapley) Welker – Animal Welfare Organization Rep Each new member gave a brief personal introduction. III. ROLL CALL In attendance: Briana Brecher, Steven Heath, Jonathan Coco, Diane Welker, Stephanie Nelson. Quorum present. Note: Dr. Jeff Jorgensen and John Trinidad joined after roll call. IV. CITIZEN COMMENT PERIOD: 3 Minutes (per citizen) Those who signed up by the deadline to speak were called in order of sign-up: Jennifer Hayes Sharri Boyett Chris DeBremaecker (called upon but not present to speak) V. MINUTES: Consider approval, by motion, of the February 10, 2021 meeting minutes. Motion made by Diane Welker to approve the minutes as written. Seconded by Briana Brecher. All in favor, none opposed, motion carried. VI. PRESENTATIONS – None VII. ITEMS FOR ACTION/DISCUSSION a) Vote on suggested revisions to Powers and Duties for City Council consideration. Motion made by Stephanie Nelson to approve the Powers and Duties. Seconded by Jonathan Coco. All in favor, none opposed. Motion carried. Debbi Jackson to format to new template provided by City Clerk’s office. VIII. REPORTS a) Staff Report: Quarterly Statistics Christie Banduch provided information on intakes and outcomes. She also discussed the impact of ‘kitten season’ at the shelter the last few months. b) Staff Report: General Shelter Updates Steven Heath gave thanks to our many volunteers. He also reported that there were over 100 owner surrenders in the month of April alone. Staff and volunteers assist with shelter diversions whenever possible. IX. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS (motions to place an item on an agenda for a regular committee meeting) Jonathan Coco made a motion to view the Powers and Duties document after it has been reformatted. Seconded by Diane Welker. Debbi Jackson mentioned the ASAC bylaws require dates for the next fiscal year to be set in October. Stephanie Nelson made a motion to add to the agenda; Steven Heath seconded. X. QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION WITH PRESS AND PUBLIC There were none. XI. ADJOURNMENT Motion was made by Steven Heath and seconded by Stephanie Nelson. Meeting adjourned at 6:53.
