III. Citizen Comment Period:
Persons wishing to participate (speak) during the Citizen Comment portion of the meeting must email jfalletta@sanmarcostx.gov prior to 12:00PM the
day of the meeting. A call in number to join by phone or link to join by a mobile device, laptop or desktop computer will be provided for participation.
Comments shall have a time limit of three minutes each. Any threatening, defamatory or other similar comments prohibited by Chapter 2 of the San
Marcos City Code will not be read.
MINUTES
1. The June 16, 2021 meeting minutes were approved on Board Member McCafferty’s motion,
Board Member Simpson’s second, on an 8-0 vote.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
2. After discussion of the Texas Main Street annual training which will be held in Seguin on
September 15 – 17, 2021, it was determined that several board members are interested in
attending. The September board meeting will be moved so that it is held on the same date
as an upcoming Board Workshop (see Item #4). This will allow board members the
opportunity to attend the Texas training.
3. After discussion of returning to in-person meetings, it was decided that staff will explore
hybrid options for board meetings moving forward.
4. After discussion of FY 2022 Action Plan development, it was determined that staff will take
a poll of board members to determine a Saturday which works well for everyone. At the
workshop, the board with have a short meeting to replace the rescheduled September
meeting, and hold a workshop to discuss program priorities for Fiscal Year 2022.
REPORTS
5. Main Street Program Report – Staff reported on the following projects: Kissing Alley Concert
Series, Music on the Square, downtown lighting and banners, Outdoor Mural Gallery, Main
Street America Takeover, the new website for Destination Services, Legacy Business
Program and Downtown Design Task Force.
6. Financial Report – To date, Main Street has utilized 83% of operating funds.
