City Council Meeting Minutes July 17, 2018
Kris Nicholl updated the Council on the Architectural Committee Meeting she attended,
and the progress with the new Director for the Sandy Boys and Girls Club.
Chris McCandless spoke regarding the Central Wasatch Commission and recommended
that the City Council schedule time to tour the Canyons.
Steve Fairbanks informed the Council of the Special Legislative Session where the Inland
Port will be discussed.

CAO Report
Matt Huish reported that the City has been in contact with Rocky Mountain Power
regarding a main power outage in the City.
He also reported that the Administration will respond soon to the Council's request for an
analysis for Cityworks.

The Council adjourned the City Council Meeting at approximately 5:30 p.m. to meet in a
Closed Door meeting to discuss the character, professional competence, or physical or
mental health of an individual.

Meeting Reconvened
The Council Meeting reconvened from Closed Session at approximately 6:05 p.m.
A motion was made by Kris Coleman Nicholl seconded by Chirs McCandless to
adjourn City Council Meeting and convene into Closed Session to discuss the
charater, compentency, or mental health of an individual.....the motion carried
by the following vote:

3. 18-267 Mayor Bradburn requesting the Council's advice and consent for the
appointment of William O'Neal as the Sandy City Police Chief.

Matt Huish presented the methodology that was used to recommend the appointment of
the new Police Chief.
Deputy Police Chief O'Neal was questioned by the Council.
A motion was made by Maren Barker, seconded by Brooke Christensen to
provide the Council's advice and consent for the appointment of William O'Neal
as the Sandy City Police Chief.... The motion carried by the following vote:

5. 18-269 Council Budget Visioning Workshop.
City Council meeting adjourned and the City Council met for a brief visioning workshop in
the Council Overflow.
Adjournment
The meeting adjourned at approximately 6:40 p.m. by Kris Coleman Nicholl. The next
scheduled meeting of the City Council is Tuesday, July 31, at 5:15 p.m.

The Sandy City Council has adopted Rules of Procedure which are available at the rear of the Council Chambers
and online at: https://sandy.utah.gov/government/city-council/procedure-guidelines . Public comment will be taken
on all voting items. Each speaker is allowed one minute per voting item, except for noticed Public Hearings in which
case each speaker is allowed three minutes. The Citizen Comment sections of the meeting are for issues not listed
on the agenda. Each speaker is allowed three minutes to address the Council during Citizen Comments. If a citizen
is unable to attend a meeting in person, he or she may provide written comments to the City Council Executive
Director by 3:00 PM the day of the Council Meeting to have those comments distributed to the City Council and
have them read into the record at the appropriate time.
