CALL TO ORDER This meeting was called to order by Chair Bonos at 3:37PM. 2. ROLL CALL Present: 6 - Chair Nina Bonos, Vice Chair Lisa Puentes, Committee Member Katherine Anderson, Committee Member Monica Bryant, Committee Member Melanie Jones-Carter, and Committee Member Kristin Kiefer Absent: 1 - Committee Member Michelle Edwards 3. PUBLIC COMMENTS None 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes from the February 4, 2019 Regular Meeting Item approved as submitted. 5. SCHEDULED ITEMS 5.1 Selection of Vice Chair Per Council Policy 000-42 “Public Art”, the Vice Chair shall be elected by the APPC members on an annual basis. Recommended Action: Selection of Vice Chair. Council Member Puentes was nominated by Council Member Kiefer to be Vice Chair for Art in Public Places Committee and seconded by Chair Bonos. Council Member Bryant self-nominated to be Vice Chair for the Art in Public Places Committee and seconded by Council Member Anderson. The motion to elect Council Member Puentes as Vice Chair received 5 votes with Council Member Bryant abstaining. The motion passed. 5.2 Public Art in Private Development Update Staff will provide an update on public art projects installed by commercial development and in-lieu fees received this year. Staff provided an overview of the Development Requirements Relating to Public Art that was adopted in 2006 for private commercial developments valued over $500,000 in construction costs. The requirement is 1% of the construction costs for the development as shown on the building permit valuation. Staff shared information development projects required to fulfil the requirement in the 2018-19 fiscal year, including: Oakmont East Recreation Center, Coddingtown Building B, Memorial Hospital Medical Building and Parking Garage, Canine Companions, AC Marriott Hotel, Department of Health Services, Roxy Movie Theater, Kaiser Permanente, and Santa Rosa Community Health. Item received and filed. 5.3 Project Updates Staff will present updates on current projects. Recommended Action: Information Only. Staff provided brief updates on the following in-progress projects: Coffey Park Public Art Project, ongoing conservation and maintenance, and Fire Response Projects. Item received and filed. 6. COMMITTEE MEMBER REPORTS 6.1 Pecha Kucha: Sharing of art photos (max. 20 slides shown for 20 sec. each) No slides were shared. 6.2 Events attended Bryant: The Land and Me, Art from the Heart at Sonoma State Bonos: The Land and Me, Oakland Museum Ray Eames exhibit 6.3 Upcoming events City of Santa Rosa Regular Meeting Minutes Page 3 of 3 Art in Public Places Committee Regular Meeting Minutes - Final March 4, 2019 Kiefer: - Downtown Station Area Plan meeting at 6:30PM, March 4, 2019. - Downtown Subcommittee presentation on Depot Park, Thursday, March 7, 2019, at 8:30AM at 637 First Street. 7. DEPARTMENT REPORTS - Invitation from City Manager’s Office for any member of a Board, Commission or Committee to walk with City Council Members in the Rose Parade on May 18th. - Creative Sonoma invited dozen or so art non-profits in Sonoma County to participate in the Arts Leadership Impact Cohort. This is a series of four strategic planning sessions with consultant, Jonathan Kaufman, co-founder & principal of Third Plateau Social Impact Strategies. The first workshop was two weeks ago. Raissa de la Rosa, Economic Development Manager, Chair Nina Bonos, and Tara Thompson are participating. - Planning and Economic Development / Downtown Station Area Plan: The first Community Advisory meeting for the Downtown Station area plan is meeting today at 6:30PM. It is open to the public. The Downtown Station Area is the areas downtown where there are transit hubs such as the train and the transit station. It encompasses the half mile radius from the Smart Train station. It is examining the zoning in that area. 8. ADJOURNMENT Chair Bonos adjourned the meeting at 4:53pm.
