APPROVAL OF MINUTES City of Santa Rosa Meeting Minutes Page 2 of 5 Community Advisory Board Meeting Minutes July 27, 2022 April 27, 2022 Regular Meeting Minutes. A motion was made by Board Member Harrell, seconded by Vice Chair Weeks, to approve the April 27th, 2022 meeting minutes. The motion passed by the following vote: June 22, 2022 Regular Meeting Minutes. A motion was made by Board Member Harrell, seconded by Vice Chair Weeks, to approve the June 22nd, 2022 meeting minutes. The motion was approved by the following vote: 4. CAB ANNOUNCEMENTS Member Wiseman announced she will need to leave shortly after 8pm. Member Harrell announced that Oakmont 2030 trying to do a general plan for Oakmont and in sync with the Santa Rosa new General Plan. A consultant was hired and has created an integrated system where participants share their ideas. The themes that were presented were similar in that they revolved around public safety. Member Lange announced that on August 27th, there is a Petaluma Barbecue event for Community development. She also had the opportunity to attend the NAACP National Convention in Atlantic City last week, that was full of information, as well as one of the Keynote Speakers was Vice President kamala Harris. Member Barnett announced that the Taco Tuesday Community Bike Ride is still occurring and encourages the community to join. Member Rodriquez announced that the Rincon Valley Little League Team are making it to the State Championships. Additionally that on Saturday, August 20, there are a Water Pop Up's around Santa Rosa to continue to raise awareness of the drought. Member Steffy announced the success of Wednesday Night Market by the attendance as well mentioned the Live at Juilliard events that happen Sundays at Juilliard Park. Additionally, the City of Santa Rosa has a baseball team called the Santa Rosa Scuba Divers who play at Doyle Park. Member Inocencio announced that the Mitote Food Park is open, and if you haven't been you should absolutely stop by spend some time here. City of Santa Rosa Meeting Minutes Page 3 of 5 Community Advisory Board Meeting Minutes July 27, 2022 Member Rahm announced that he was invited to be on the Emergency Operations Plan Committee for the City of Santa Rosa, and asked the Community Advisory Board for any input that he can share with the Committee for their first meeting during the first week of August. Member Weeks announced that he attended the Park Cleanup at Galvin Park last month, and next months Park Cleanup is believed to be at Prince Memorial Greenway on August 6th. He additionally mentioned Measure O, which will help fund our firefighters are police and gang violence prevention, was approved to be on the ballot for November. Member Graves announced that Park Cleanup on August 14 is from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Youth Community Park, whereas the Cleanup at Prince Memorial Greenway, which is the first Saturday of the month, is from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. STAFF UPDATES Office of Community Engagement (OCE) Staffing Update : Magali announced that Danielle, who had been the Community Engagement Departments Coordinator, will be moving to a new position within the Violence Prevention Partnership at the Administrative Analyst. With this move, we will be able to dive deeper into the data that will be collected from our CHOICE Partners. The National Night Out is on August 2nd from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Mitote Food Park, where the OCE will be tabling. There will be CAB Grant Flyers available to pick up. There will also be 4 opportunities for the community to meet with OIR, which is the Police Oversight agency. Meetings will be held on the following dates, times, and locations: -Thursday August 4th at Sheppard Elementary from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm -Friday August 5th at Tia Maria's from 8:00 am - 10:00 am and at Victory Outreach Church from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm. OCE and a consultant for the Hearn Community Hub, RDC, will be hosting a bloc party on Saturday August 20th from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Roseland University Prep. Please come by to provide input on for this community space. There will be further meetings with RDC, and dates, times, and locations will be provided as soon as the information becomes available. SCHEDULED ITEMS 6.1 PRESENTATION - 2021-2022 COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM UPDATE Danielle Garduno provided the CAB with a presentation on the Community Improvement Program Update. 6.2 REPORT - COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT GRANT PROGRAM 2022 Q2 APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDING BACKGROUND: On April 5, 2022, the Community Advisory Board (CAB) released the 2022 Community Improvement Grant Application for Quarter 2 to the public. The application period closed June 30, 2022. The CAB received two applications for funding, totaling $5,000. The projects are as follows: Bags of Love (Food for Thought) The Magnificence Magnifies (Christine Kish) RECOMMENDATION: The Office of Community Engagement recommends the CAB fund both project applications for this grant period. Public Comment: Christine Kish provided public comment about the Magnificence Magnifiers Project Grant application to express the need for this program. A motion was made by Board Member Lange, seconded by Board Member Harrell. The motion was approved by the following vote: 6.3 2022 PRIORITIES: DEFINE GOALS AND NEXT STEPS 2022 SELECTED OBJECTIVES. Provided for information. CAB decided to move forward with their focus on Goal #3 and educate people on Measure O. Public comment: none. City of Santa Rosa Meeting Minutes Page 5 of 5 Community Advisory Board Meeting Minutes July 27, 2022 6.4 REVISIT IN-PERSON MEETINGS DISCUSSION The CAB agreed to move forward with Hybrid meetings starting in August with the physical location being at Utility Field Operations at 35 Stony Point Rd. Room M. Public comment: none. 6.5 ISSUES OF CONCERN TO CITY RESIDENTS Member Lange reported that within two days of the June 22nd meeting, where she mentioned the overgrowth of weeds that was hindering visibility to drivers, the City of Santa Rosa came out and cleaned the overgrowth from Marlow and Piner Rd., all the way to College Ave. The visibility for drivers has significantly improved. CAB Members will report on issues of concern to community members within their CAB areas and the city as a whole. Community members may use public comment during this item to bring issues of concern to the CAB.
