CITY OF SARATOGA SPRINGS CITY COUNCIL MEETING CITY COUNCIL ROOM THURSDAY, JANUARY 1, 2004 11:00 A.M. PRESENT: Commissioner Thomas Curley, DPS Commissioner Michael Lenz, Mayor Commissioner Matthew McCabe, Finance Commissioner Thomas McTygue, DPW Commissioner Stephen E. Towne, Accounts ALSO PRESENT: Anthony Scirocco, Supervisor Phil Klein, Supervisor STAFF PRESENT: Patrick Design, Deputy Commissioner, DPW Erin Dreyer, Commissioner, DPS Christine Gillmett-Brown, Deputy Commissioner Finance Debbie Harper, Deputy Commissioner Accounts Alicia Wardell, Deputy Mayor Matthew Dorsey, City Attorney Anthony Izzo, Assistant City Attorney OATHS OF OFFICE The Honorable Douglas Mills administered the Oath of Office to the following individuals: Phil Klein & Anthony Scirocco, Supervisors; Michael Lenz, Mayor; and Matthew McCabe, Thomas McTygue, Thomas Curley and Stephen Towne, Commissioners CALL TO ORDER Mayor Michael Lenz called the meeting to order at 11:15 a.m. PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD Mayor Michael Lenz opened the public comment period. No one spoke. MAYOR=S OFFICE Mayor Michael Lenz welcomed guests including Assemblymen Roy McDonald and Jim Tedisco. Mayor Michael Lenz said he was humbled and honored to be elected as the Mayor of the City of Saratoga Springs. He said the Mayor=s position is not just another position in the City, but rather a position of responsibility to lead the City. He said there have been differences of opinion among Council members, but he believed the Council could work together and put aside partisanship to improve the quality of life for the citizens. He said the Council must not forget that they serve the same constituency. He said this administration would be open and accountable and was confident that the Council could meet the challenges ahead. He said this City is a special community that is caring and compassionate as well. He said that he looked forward to serving the residents for a better and brighter future. Marriage Officer (04-01) Page 1 of 2 City of Saratoga Springs City Council Meeting Minutes Thursday, January 1, 2004 Mayor Michael Lenz moved and Commissioner Stephen Towne seconded to appoint J. Michael O=Connell, former Mayor, as a marriage officer. Ayes all. Deputy Finance Commissioner Mayor Michael Lenz said it had been an honor to work with Deputy Finance Commissioner Christine Gillmett- Brown over the last several years. He said she was a great asset to the City and was glad to see that she would continue in that position. Appointments (04-02) Mayor Michael Lenz announced the following appointments: Alicia Wardell, Deputy Mayor; Matthew Dorsey, City Attorney; Anthony Izzo, Assistant City Attorney; and Lisa Lessard, Executive Assistant. ACCOUNTS DEPARTMENT Appointment (04-03) Commissioner Stephen Towne announced the appointment of Deborah Harper as Deputy Commissioner. FINANCE DEPARTMENT Appointment (04-04) Commissioner Matthew McCabe announced the appointment of Christine Gillmett-Brown as Deputy Commissioner. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS Appointment (04-05) Commissioner Thomas McTygue announced the appointment of Patrick Design as Deputy Commissioner. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY Appointment (04-06) Commissioner Thomas Curley announced the appointment of Erin Dreyer as Deputy Commissioner. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Thomas McTygue moved and Commissioner Thomas Curley seconded to adjourn the meeting at 11:30 a.m. Ayes all.
