No public present. 1. Approve meeting minutes from October 4th • Change “housekeeping” to “next steps” • Approved 2. Ballston Ave Project Discussion • Peter Faith, Greenman Pederson, Inc, City Consultant o 5 objectives of the project  Correct safety deficiencies  Improve pedestrian access and mobility  Enhance streetscape  Update traffic control and pavement markings  Improve traffic operations o Complete streets components  Improving safety by lowering conflict points from 79 to 6  Legal for bicyclists, not recommended  Curb cuts and bike-friendly grates  Crosswalks  Widening the road to accommodate • A turning lane • Continuous pedestrian 5’ sidewalk on both sides • Public comment period open until November 9th o Asking for letter of support from Complete Streets Committee o The Committee questioned bike access and facilities. After some discussion, it was understood that the proposed improvements do make it easier for bike travel, but do not include formal bike lanes. This is not a bike route and is a short segment. It was agreed the proposed alternative does improve existing overall conditions. o Committee agreed to write letter of support based on the safety, pedestrian, and transit access improvements. 3. Introduction to Comprehensive Plan Update • City is required to review comprehensive plan every 5 years—last time was in 2007 and was never officially adopted • In January, city will begin comprehensive plan process o The Committee will consider how to be engaged in the process 4. Complete Streets Workshop • Hoping for 70 people to attend • Conference call with Mark Fenton beforehand • Think about places we might want to do the audit 5. Changing our name to Complete Street Committee • Consensus that we should change our name because Complete Streets Committee is more recognizable and more easily understood than Shared Access 6. Checklist • Checklist has been revised and shortened • Members will send comments and revisions 7. Next Steps a) Next Meeting: December 6, 2012 at 5:00pm • We should keep meetings consistent as the first Thursday of each month • Focus will be on finishing the checklist • Stephanie will give an overview of Sharrows map and intern mapping project • Identify 2 or 3 priority items to focus on b) Complete Streets Workshop: December 11, 2012 Public Comment Period No public present. 2
