COMMUNICATIONS REPORT FROM THE VILLAGE PRESIDENT Hebein thanked Clerk Friede for putting together a comprehensive Village Board Packet. Hebein read a proclamation celebrating Wastewater Professionals Appreciation Day. REPORT FROM THE VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR Wagner stated the Wastewater Utility was awarded the 2024 Wastewater System of the Year Award by the Wisconsin Rural Water Association. Wagner thanked Hartmann and the Water/Wastewater Team for all their hard work. Resolution #1402 – Adjusted Urban Area Boundary Wagner stated this item was recommended for approval by the Public Works Committee. The Village of Saukville is working with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The Urban Area Boundaries gets adjusted every 10 years which helps the DOT with planning and funding of upcoming projects. Wagner noted Resolution #1402 was reviewed by the Public Works Committee and was recommended to the Village Board for approval. Nowlen/P. Next Meeting Scheduled for June 4, 2024 at 5:15 p.m. Public Works/Cemetery Committee P. Duckart reported on Meeting of May 14, 2024 Cottontail Lane paving project received 2 quotes. Payne & Dolan submit with the lowest at $112,000. Project will be completed this Summer. This project is replacing the S. Main Street project. Ozaukee County pushed back the S. Main Street project to 2027. The installation of the new playground equipment, donated by PWSB, for Schowalter Park will start in July. About 80% of the playground equipment has been delivered. DPW staff is removing and replacing 500-600 Feet of sidewalk this year caused by tree damage Public Safety Committee Nowlen reported on the Meeting of May 21, 2024 Nowlen noted the Flock Camera System has been used by our agencies to assist with solving crimes. Nowlen added the Fire/EMS Consolidation continues. Finance Committee Hebein reported on the Meeting of May 21, 2024 Ordinance #834 - Amending sec. 82-4, 82-5, 82-7, 82-10 Adding Columbarium Rules and Resolution #1401 - Fee Resolution Columbarium Niches were recommended and approved by the Village Board REPORTS OF SPECIAL COMMITTEES Plan Commission None. Community Development Authority/Industrial Review Committee No Report. Library Board Smith reported on the Meeting of May 14, 2024. Smith stated the Book Sale was successful. Smith noted that the Summer Library Program will be starting on June 11, 2024. Mid-Moraine Municipal Association Rudolph distributed Minutes from the May 8th meeting. Motion Carried. YEAR OF SERVICE AWARD PRESENTATION Hebein welcomed and thanked everyone for attending the Village Board Meeting. Wagner explained that the Employee Recognition Program was created to provide formal recognition to employees who have maintained continuous employment with the Village of Saukville. Wagner added 8 employees were receiving Service Awards for 2023. Years of service ranged from 5 – 40 years of service. The combined total is equivalent to 115 years of service. Laws presented the Library Awards to: Jason Collins – 10 years of Service KC Butz- 5 years of Service Karpinski presented Fire/EMS Awards to: Tom Paape – 40 years of Service Andrew Borgenhagen – 10 years of Service Vanessa Marratt – 5 years of Service Moegenburg presented DPW Awards to: Brain Croatt – 5 years of Service - absent Ethan Tennies – 5 years of Service Wagner presented the Utility Dept. Award to: Ray Hartmann – 35 years of Service Hebein stated his appreciation for the Appointed Officials and Volunteers. Volunteering is generally considered an altruistic activity where an individual or group provides services for no financial or social gain "to benefit another person, group, or organization". Volunteering is also known for skill development and is often intended to promote goodness or to improve human quality of life. Volunteering may have positive benefits for the volunteer as well as for the person or community served. Through volunteering we can and do: Take on a challenge - Get involved – and Reap personal rewards. Our team of long-time employees and volunteers continually come up with new and exciting ways to move Saukville forward and for that we are grateful! For example, the Police Reserves provided 140 volunteer hours to our community in 2023. Without their assistance, events like (Farmers Market, Live at the Triangle Summer Concert Series, National Night Out, Chamber 5K- Run/Walk, July 4th activities, etc.) would not be possible. The members of the Fire Dept. Auxiliary never hesitate to help out at F.D. events/ incidents & other community events. We are very blessed to have such a dedicated group of Police Reserves & Fire Dept. Auxiliary members in service to all of us. Tonight, we are also here to recognize the appointed officials for their service to our community and I applaud all of their combined efforts. I sincerely thank Committee, Board, and Commission members, Police Reserves, and the Fire Department Auxiliary. All of their input is sincerely appreciated both by Village residents & staff. Hebein thanked all the Village Staff for their commitment to our outstanding Village. Wagner ended by thanking the Employee Recognition Committee for their hard work and effort in putting this event together.
