The up to $500,000 request for a $1,000,000 project will have no impact on the 2014 or 2015 budget, using time and materials and "other" matches. CORPOK4T'ION COF?n'SEL 11 CITY OF SCHENECTADY LEGISLATIVE REQUEST FORM / INFO TEE ASSIGPlMENT &L d&/ DATE: June 2,2014 TO: City Council FROM: Paul LaFond, Director of Water & Wastewater SUBJECT: 2014 Waterline Replacement Project TO BE PLACED ON COUNCIL AGENDA OF: June 2014 Background Information: As part of the annual waterline improvement program and as a result of the age and repair history of the waterline and valves in several areas, it has been determined by the Water Department the following work is required: a: Install a new six (6) inch water main on Manhattan Street between Foster Avenue and the "Air Strip". b: Install a new six (6) inch water main on Wright Avenue (Iroquois Way) from Central Parkway to the new six (6) inch valve prior to "Monument Hill". c: Install a new 16X16x6 inch Tee with a 16 inch Butterfly Valve and a new 6 inch gate valve in the intersection of Albany Street and Germania Avenue. Evaluation/Analysis: Engineering drawings have been created and the project has been put out to bid. It is recommended the contract be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder, Carver Construction of Altamont, NY in the amount of $267,323.00. Recommendation: Authorize the Mayor to enter into a contract with Carver Construction for the 2014 Waterline Replacement Project in the amount of $267,323.00. Funding will be fiom 2014 Operating Budget Code FX1989-460.
