Events are being planned throughout the Capital District for this year's National Crime Victims' Rights
Week. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Ceremony of Remembrance for Homicide Victims in
Schenectady's Central Park Rose Garden. We would be honored if honored you could attend the event on
Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at noon in the Central Park Rose Garden. If weather does not permit us to hold
the event in the Rose Garden, we will hold the ceremony in the pavilion in Central Park.

Background Information:
The Salvation Army would like to put up a Sign that is 4' high and 4' wide that will hang over the City
right-of-way with a minimum clearance of 8' on the Smith Street side of the building at 222 lafayette
Street, Schenectady, New York (please see the attached application, picture, and approval from the
Planning Dept.).

The City of Schenectady hereby grants Revocable Permit No. 61.1 to The Salvation Army for a sign that is 4'
high by 4' wide and will hang over the City right-of-way with a minimum clearance of 8' on the Smith Street

a) The Sign is 4' high by 4' wide and will hang over the City right-of-way with a minimum
clearance of 8' on the Smith Street side of the building at 222 lafayette Street,
Schenectady, New York
b) The Salvation Army shall hold the City, its employees or agents harmless for any damage to
the Sign resulting from their acts in performing of their duties.
c) So long as the Sign remains in the City right-of-way, The Salvation Army shall carry, at
THEIR expense public liability insurance in an amount not less than
$1,000,000/$1,000,000 for personal liability and not less than $1,000,000 for property
damage in one accident and $2,000,000 in the aggregate. The liability policy must the
name City of Schenectady as additionally insured to be saved harmless for personal
liability and property damage and is subject to the approval of the Corporation Counsel
of the City of Schenectady.
d) The City Engineer of the City of Schenectady reserves the power to revoke the permission
granted and to require the removal of the Sign except in case of a dangerous condition
which shall be corrected immediately upon notification.
e) The Salvation Army complies with all rules, regulations and building permits relating to the
erection and maintenance of the Sign.
f) The Salvation Army agrees to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the City of
Schenectady, their officers, agents and employees from any and against any and all
claims, suits, liens, judgments, damages, losses and expenses including reasonable legal
fees and costs arising in whole or in part and in any manner from acts, omissions, breach
or default of The Salvation Army, or their agent, re lated to their performance related to
this revocable permit.
