Funding for this initiative is administered by the NYS Division Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES). The performance period for this award is April 1,2017 through August 31 , 2019. These funds are provided to improve and develop tactical team capabilities through equipment, training, exercise and planning projects that support counter terrorism missions. Funds are to be used as follows: )0- Special Operations Rapid Deployment Vehicle· $63,000; )0- Heavy duty surveillance tactical robot - $25,000; );;- Wireless communication equipment - deployable phone - $3,000 ,.. These funds are provided to equip local police agencies with protective equipment and DCJS approved patrol rifles to provide the greatest level of protection and effectiveness in combating active shooter incidents, terrorist attacks and other criminal events. Construction began in the early summer of 2016 with substantial completion achieved by October 1 of 2016. Evaluation/Analysis: During construction of this project necessary changes and/or corrections were made by the design engineer to the material quantities and the proposed drainage work. These corrections resulted in a net increase in the cost of the project beyond the base bid. These costs were summarized by the consultant and reviewed and approved by the New York State Department of Transportation for concurrence. The results of which are the attached Supplemental Agreement #4 in the amount of $754,505.55. (Schenectady, NY) June 16, 2015 -Two years since the Schenectady Municipal Housing Authority (SMHA) implemented a smoke-free policy for its senior developments, the Capital District Tobacco-Free Coalition (CDTFC) announced that a recent survey shows that the policy is helping residents smoke less and is well-liked by a majority of residents. The survey of senior and disabled residents residing at Ten Eyck, Shonowee Village and Lincoln Heights shows that: • Of 24 respondents who currently smoke, 18 are smoking less, and of those smoking less, 13 report that at least part of the reason is the no-smoking policy.
