Sawyer Street, Shawano, WI CALL MEETING TO ORDER WITH MOMENT OF SILENT PRAYER OR MEDITATION • Chairperson Tony Zielinksi called the Police & Fire Commission meeting to order on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Shawano City Hall. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ROLL CALL • Roll Call showed members present: President Tony Zielinski, Vice-President Marvin D. Erdman, Secretary Stacey Cicero, Members Ronald Bystol, and Dan Mauel. • Also present: Police Chief Mike Musolff and Captain Shane Stange. COMPLIANCE WITH OPEN MEETING LAW • Cicero reported the agenda was faxed or emailed to Shawano Leader, WTCH, Market Messenger, Public Library, and Premier Community Bank. It was posted at Shawano City Hall and the City's website. APPROVAL OF PROPOSED AGENDA • Motion by Mauel to amend the agenda to move item 10) Closed Session to after item 6) Approval of the minutes, seconded by Bystol. Motion carried by Voice Vote. • Motion by Mauel to approved the amended agenda, seconded by Bystol. Motion carried by Voice Vote. APPROVAL OF THE DECEMBER 18, 2024 MINUTES • Motion by Cicero to approve the December 18, 2024 Police & Fire Commission minutes, seconded by Mauel. Motion carried by Voice Vote. CLOSED SESSION GO INTO CLOSED SESSION UNDER WISCONSIN STATUTES SECTION 19.85(1)(c) CONSIDERING EMPLOYMENT, PROMOTION, COMPENSATION, OR PERFORMANCE EVALUATION DATA OF ANY PUBLIC EMPLOYEE UNDER THE COMMISSION'S JURISDICTION (Police Officer position) • Motion by Mauel to go into Closed Session per Wisconsin Statutes Section 19.85(1)(c) considering employment, promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation data of any public employee under the Commission's jurisdiction, and invite Chief Musolff and Captain Stange into the meeting, seconded by Bystol. Roll Call Vote "Ayes" Mauel, Bystol, Erdman, Cicero and Zielinksi. "Nays" None. Motion carried. RETURN TO OPEN SESSION PER WISCONSIN STATUTES SECTION 19.85(2) • Motion by Bystol to return to Open Session, seconded by Mauel. Motion carried by Voice Vote. APPROVE THE HIRE OF R. UTTECHT • Motion by Erdman to appoint Riley Uttecht (was approved December 18, 2024 at PFC meeting) as a City Police Officer effective February 11, 2025, seconded by Mauel. Motion carried by Voice Vote. DISCUSS AND ACT ON DECERTIFYING THE CURRENT ELIGIBILITY LIST • Motion by Mauel to table this item until the next meeting, seconded by Bystol. Motion carried by Voice Vote. UPDATE FROM POLICE CHIEF REGARDING STAFFING Page 1 of 2 Page 3 of 4  • Chief Musolff provided an update on staffing and officer training. ACT ON ANY MATTERS DISCUSSED IN CLOSED SESSION, IF APPROPRIATE • See above for hiring of R. Uttecht. COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS OR NEW BUSINESS TO BE CONSIDERED AT A FUTURE MEETING • None.
