NEW BUSINESS
A. Parks Update
Clint Metz presented updates and information from the Parks Department. Discussion
topics included:
• 2025 Parks & Recreation Project Map (to be sent in follow up email)
• Interactive Parks & Trails Map (to be sent in follow up email)
• Board members highlighted the need for Parks and Public Works to
collaborate on project and construction information.
• Detour for Western and 57th
o Clint confirmed there is no detour for phase 1.
o Process was summarized: A detour option was brought before the
Bike Committee who determined that there was no safe detour option.
Therefore, Parks opted to move forward without a detour in this case.
There is a financial incentive for the contractor to complete the project
early.
• Signage for detours
o Clint stated that physical signage is part of the bid process with the
contractor. There is not a policy for distance and location of physical
detour signs.
o The group discussed online detour notifications and efficiency of
directing people to the interactive map for detour and closure
information.
o Clint also discussed the use of social media and press releases as
notification methods.
• Xcel project
o The project is now complete.
o City staff discussed the process for communicating with Xcel – when
an issue is brought to staff’s attention, staff reaches out to project
management who then reaches out those on the ground.
o The City has requested that different panels be used for future
projects.
o The damaged portions of the trail will be repaired. Currently there is
no timeline, but discussions with Xcel have begun.
• Dunham Park detour
o Clint and Fletcher discussed concerns with using the parking lot as
the detour. The proposed detour will go through internal park trials.
• Crack seal/seal coat process and alternatives
B. Bike Week Recap
