MINUTES Tuesday, July 31, 2012 CIP - Budget Hearings 3:00 PM Sioux Falls City Council Carnegie Town Hall 235 West 10th Street Members Present: Council Member Sue Aguilar, Council Member Kenny Anderson Jr., Council Member Michelle Erpenbach, Council Member Dean Karsky, Council Member Rex Rolfing and Council Member Kermit L. Staggers Members Absent: Council Member James Entenman and Council Member Greg Jamison Staff Present: Tamara Jorgensen, CMC, Assistant City Clerk; Jim David, Legislative/Operations Manager; and David Bixler, Budget Analyst. CALL TO ORDER Council Chair Michelle Erpenbach called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. BUDGET HEARINGS A. Finance Tracy Turbak, Director of Finance, gave a brief overview about the 2013 Operating Budget for the Finance Department. B. Human Resources Bill O'Toole, Director of Human Resources, gave a brief overview of the 2013 Operating Budget for the Human Resources Department. Sue Quanbeck Etten, Director of Central Services, gave a brief overview of the 2013 Operating Budget for Technology and Facilities regarding staffing needs. 4:10 p.m. Council Member Greg Jamison arrived at this time. C. Fire Department Jim Sideras, Chief of Fire Rescue, gave an overview of the 2013 Operating Budget for the Fire Safety Department. D. Police Department Doug Barthel, Police Chief, gave an overview of the 2013 Operating Budget for the Police Department.  E. Community Development Darrin Smith, Director of Community Development, gave an overview of the 2013 Operating Budget for the Affordable Housing Division within the Community Development Department. Brent O'Neil, Economic Development Manager, gave an overview of the 2013 Operating Budget for the Economic Development Division within the Community Development Department. F. Public Parking Matt Nelson, Public Parking Facilities Manager, gave an overview of the 2013 Operating Budget for the Public Parking Division within the Community Development Department. 6:00 p.m. Council Member Kenny Anderson Jr. left the meeting at this time. ADJOURNMENT Council Chair Michelle Erpenbach provided an update on a future Budget Hearing meeting: Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. The following city departments will be listed on that agenda: Planning, Transit, Library, Health and Parks and Recreation. Erpenbach reminded the public that if they want to receive a public meeting notice that indicates when these meetings occur that they should contact the City Clerk's Office at clerks@siouxfalls.org. Citizens can then be added to the weekly distribution listing.
