MINUTES Wednesday, October 4, 2017 Charter Revision 4 PM at Carnegie Town Hall Commission Meeting 235 West Tenth Street Members Present: Jill Entenman, Pauline Poletes, Justin Smith and Robert Thimjon Members Absent: Sue Aguilar Staff Present: David Pfeifle, City Attorney; and Cari Hanzel, Paralegal/Clerk 1. Call To Order Commission Chair Robert Thimjon called the meeting to order at 4 p.m. 2. Introduction A. Members B. Organization and Background Information 3. Election Of Chair And Vice Chair A motion was made by Committee Member Justin Smith and seconded by Committee Member Jill Entenman to nominate Robert Thimjon as the Chair for the Charter Revision Commission. A voice vote was taken, all members voted yes. Motion Passed. A motion was made by Committee Member Pauline Poletes and seconded by Committee Member Jill Entenman nominate Sue Aguilar as the Vice-Chair for the Charter Revision Commission. A voice vote was taken, all members voted yes. Motion Passed. 4. New Business A. Outline of Commission Meeting Timeline The Charter Revision Commission will meet in the Carnegie Town Hall, 235 W. 10th Street, at 4 p.m. on the following dates: Wednesday, November 1, 2017; Wednesday, November 15, 2017; Wednesday, December 6, 2017; and Wednesday, December 20, 2017. B. Consideration of When to Extend Invitations for Input to the Mayor, City Council Members, City Directors and Others Members of the Administration, the City Council, and the public are welcome to attend any Charter Revision Commission Meeting to discuss the items listed on the Agenda. The proposed agenda items: November 1, 2017: Articles I, II and III November 15, 2017: Articles IV, V, and VI December 6, 2017: Articles VII, VIII and IX C. Ground Rules of Commission Votes - Majority vs. Super-Majority The Commission will review Charter information prior to the meetings. Once a vote is taken, only items receiving 4 out of 5 yes votes will be recommended to be added to the ballot. D. Discussion of Future Meeting Dates Item discussed in 4A. 5. Public Input There was none. The Charter Revision Commission members expressed their appreciation to David Pfeifle, City Attorney, for his years of service to the City and to the Charter Revision Commission. 6. Adjournment Commission Chair Robert Thimjon adjourned the meeting at 4:16 p.m. Tamara Jorgensen, MMC Assistant City Clerk
