Informational Meeting

MINUTES Monday, February 8, 2010 Informational Meeting 4:00 p.m. at Carnegie Town Hall Sioux Falls City Council 235 West 10th Street Members Present: Kenny Anderson Jr., Gerald Beninga, Vernon Brown, J. Pat Costello, Greg Jamison, Bob Litz, and Kermit Staggers. Members Absent: De Knudson, and Mayor Dave Munson. Staff Present: Debra A. Owen, City Clerk, and Jamie L. Palmer, Assistant City Clerk. 1. Call To Order Council Chair Costello called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. 2. City Council Staff Report A. Updates by Debra A. Owen, City Clerk Owen gave an update on the water bill inserts for the election. She stated that the League of Women’s Voter’s candidate forums are tentatively scheduled on March 22, 23, and 24, 2010. More details will follow as they are confirmed. 3. Mayor Munson No report. 4. Audit Committee No report. 5. Fiscal Committee Beninga reported that the committee met last week to discuss the Digital Records Management system and stated that the process is on target to meet their deadline. 6. Land Use Committee No report. 7. Public Services Committee Brown stated that there will be a Public Services Committee meeting immediately following this meeting to discuss the vehicles for hire ordinance and the garbarge and recycling ordinance. 8. City Council Open Discussion Jamison asked if other Council Members have noticed the abundance of pot holes throughout the city. He asked Mark Cotter, Director of Public Works to address the Council. Cotter stated that the amount of rain received in January compounded the problem. After the crews finish with snow removal, they immediately revert back to street maintenance/repair. Discussion followed.  Costello asked about snow pick up on 41st and Minnesota Avenue being done at night. Discussion followed. 9.
