MINUTES Monday, June 27, 2011 Informational Meeting 4:00 PM at Carnegie Town Hall Sioux Falls City Council 235 West Tenth Street Members Present: Sue Aguilar, Kenny Anderson Jr., Vernon Brown, Michelle Erpenbach, Greg Jamison, Dean Karsky, Rex Rolfing , Mike T. Huether Members Absent: James Entenman Staff Present: Debra A. Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations; Denise D. Tucker, CMC, Assistant City Clerk 1. Call To Order City Council Chair Sue Aguilar called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. 2. City Council Staff Report A. Debra A. Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations Owen informed the City Council that a chart regarding committee information has been sent to them. She said that Budget Hearings will be held on August 1, 15 and 29, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Owen said there will be no Informational Meetings held on those days. 3. City Council Open Discussion Brown said there will be a Fiscal Committee meeting next week and City Attorney David Pfeifle will have some proposals regarding contracts. He said he has had some meetings with the Council Chair Sue Aguilar and Pfeifle about the Charter Revision Commission. Brown has been receiving questions from the public on when the next one will be scheduled. Discussion followed. Erpenbach spoke about water usage in Sioux Falls. She reminded the public that the City has rebates available for new washers, toilets and sprinkler retrofits. Water conservation kits are also available. Information may be found on the City's website at www.siouxfalls.org. Aguilar requested a Point of Privilege to have City Engineer Chad Huwe speak about the 26th Street Closure plan. Huwe said beginning at 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2011; 26th Street will be closed from Southeastern Avenue to Yeager Road, along with the northbound off ramp. Multiple improvements will be made  to 26th Street at this time. Parts of the street will reopen at 7:00 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2011. The remainder of the project will be finished by 6:00 a.m., Monday, July 11, 2011. Discussion followed. Aguilar asked Mark Cotter, Director of Public Works, to come forward with an item of interest for the Council. He said they have set up a tour of the Tuthill Lift Station for 1:30 p.m., Thursday, June 30, 2011. A view of improvements made to the Tuthill Lift Station and an update on Central sewer main will be available. A discussion will also be held regarding upcoming key projects for the summer. The tour is open to the public. Discussion followed. 4. Presentations A. 2012-2016 Mayor's Recommended Capital Program Presentation by Mayor Mike Huether and Tracy Turbak, Director of Finance B. Snow Gates Update by Galynn Huber, Street/Utilities Manager; and Mark Cotter, Director of Public Works 5. Adjournment City Council Chair Aguilar adjourned the meeting at 5:38 p.m. Denise D.
