MINUTES Monday, April 16, 2012 Informational Meeting 4:00 PM at Carnegie Town Hall Sioux Falls City Council 235 West Tenth Street Members Present: Sue Aguilar, Kenny Anderson Jr., Vernon Brown, James Entenman, Michelle Erpenbach, Greg Jamison, Dean Karsky, Rex Rolfing Members Absent: Mike T. Huether Staff Present: Lorie Hogstad, City Clerk; and Denise D. Tucker, CMC, Assistant City Clerk 1. Call To Order City Council Chair Sue Aguilar called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. 2. Staff Report A. Lorie Hogstad, City Clerk Hogstad reported that Denise Tucker, Assistant City Clerk, has been appointed to the 2012/2013 Public Relations and Marketing Committee for the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. She said there would be a Municipal Clerks Week proclamation read at tonight's meeting. Hogstad provided an Election update. She reviewed: ballot statistics, Election day issues, ballot allocation, Election night, the Election Recap session, and plans for the 2014 Election. 3. City Council Open Discussion Aguilar asked for a volunteer for the May 4th Inside Town Hall. She announced that the Swearing In Ceremony for the recent Election winners will be on May 21st at 2:00 p.m. Aguilar added that a Special Meeting will be needed that day to elect Council leadership. Discussion followed. It was decided that the Special Meeting will be held on May 21st at 5:00 p.m. Jamison provided an update of a Fiscal Committee subcommittee, comprised of Karsky, Dave Bixler, Budget Analyst, and Rich Oksol, Lead Internal Auditor, tasked with figuring out what to do with a $4 million surplus and how to prevent it from reoccurring. He said they do not have a list of shovel ready projects to consider at this time. Jamison spoke briefly about a CIP Committee. Discussion  followed. 4. Presentations A. Washington Pavilion 2011 Financials by Larry Toll, President of the Washington Pavilion 5. Adjournment Council Chair Aguilar adjourned the meeting at 5:22 p.m. Denise D.
