MINUTES Tuesday, January 14, 2014 Informational Meeting 4:00 PM at Carnegie Town Hall Sioux Falls City Council 235 West Tenth Street Members Present: Sue Aguilar, Kenny Anderson Jr., James Entenman, Michelle Erpenbach, Greg Jamison, Dean Karsky, Rex Rolfing, and Kermit L. Staggers Members Absent: Mike T. Huether Staff Present: Tamara Jorgensen, CMC, Assistant City Clerk; Lorie Hogstad, CMC, City Clerk; Jim David, Legislative/Operations Manager; and David Bixler, Budget Analyst 1. Call To Order Council Chair Jim Entenman called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. 2. Staff Report A. Lorie Hogstad, City Clerk Lorie Hogstad, City Clerk, reviewed an update regarding the April 8, 2014 election. She covered an ordinance for the January 21, 2014 City Council Meeting which covers election related changes. She also provided an update on a recent Operations Committee meeting held with Jason Gant, Secretary of State, and recent updates to the City's website under Elections. Additional discussion was held regarding the use of Vote Centers in this election. B. Jim David, Legislative/Operations Manager Jim David, Legislative/Operations Manager provided updates regarding the Legislative Sessions in Pierre. He provided an update on a bill regarding alcohol in taxi cabs. David stated there are going to be four legislative coffees in Sioux Falls that Council Members can attend. 3. City Council Open Discussion Entenman provided the following schedule changes for meetings scheduled for Election Day - Tuesday, April 8, 2014:  The Informational and the Public Services Committee Meetings are cancelled. The business for the City Council Meeting will be postponed to the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. There will be a resolution presented to the City Council on January 21, 2014 regarding this change. 4. Presentations A. Council Member Map Update by Tamara Jorgensen, Assistant City Clerk Tamara Jorgensen, Assistant City Clerk, provided a presentation on an online interactive map that can be used by the public to determine who their City Council Member is. B. Adaptive Traffic Signals on 26th Street by Heath Hoftiezer, Traffic Engineer Mark Cotter, Director of Public Works, provided an overview on the Adaptive Traffic Technology. A PowerPoint Presentation was reviewed by the Council. Discussion followed. 5. Adjournment Council Chair Entenman adjourned the meeting at 5:04 p.m. Tamara Jorgensen, CMC Assistant City Clerk
