MINUTES Informational Meeting Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 4:00 PM Carnegie Town Hall, 235 West 10th St., Sioux Falls, SD 57104 1. Call To Order Council Members Present: David Barranco, Sarah Cole, Alex Jensen (arr. 4:08 p.m.), Rich Merkouris, Curt Soehl, Pat Starr Council Members Absent: Greg Neitzert, Marshall Selberg Council Vice Chair Rich Merkouris called the meeting to order at 4 p.m. 2. Councilor Remarks Council Member David Barranco commented on the weather conditions. 3. Presentations A. 2023 Police Crime Statistics by Jon Thum, Chief of Police Presentation: Approximately 20 minutes followed by discussion Jon Thum, Chief of Police Chief, provided a public safety briefing covering population statistics, crimes against persons (Homicides, Assaults, Rape, Robbery); Property Crimes (Stolen Vehicles, Larceny, Burglary, Vandalism, Fraud); Drugs Seized and Drug Overdoses, Suicide Cases and Police Employment (presentation attached to the meeting agenda). Discussion followed the presentation and questions were answered by Thum. B. Pump Station Basics and Sanitary Sewer Expansion by Ryan Johnson, Utility Administrator Presentation: Approximately 10 minutes followed by discussion Ryan Johnson, Utility Administrator, gave an update on the pump station basics and sanitary sewer expansion (presentation attached to the meeting agenda). Discussion followed the presentation and questions were answered by Johnson. 4. Public Comment Sierra Broussard spoke about her neighborhood concerns.  Neil Jeske spoke about landlords and crime in the City of Sioux Falls. 5. Adjournment Council Vice Chair Rich Merkouris adjourned the meeting at 5:00 p.m. Tamara Jorgensen, MMC, Assistant City Clerk
