MINUTES Informational Meeting Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 3:00 PM Carnegie Town Hall, 235 West 10th St., Sioux Falls, SD 57104 1. Call To Order Council Members Present: David Barranco, Alex Jensen, Rich Merkouris, Marshall Selberg, Curt Soehl, Pat Starr Council Members Absent: Sarah Cole, Greg Neitzert 2. Councilor Remarks Councilor Alex Jensen provided an update on the Regulatory Oversight Committee Meeting that meet this afternoon. 3. Presentations A. Zoo Presentation by Zach Winfield, Canopy Strategic Partners; Greg Dystra, CLR Design; Becky Dewitz, President and CEO, Great Plains Zoo Presentation: Approximately 60 minutes followed by discussion A presentation was done on the Master & Business Plan for the Great Plains Zoo Campus. Input was received from Greg Dykstra, Principal of CLR Design; Zachary Winfield, Vice President of Canopy Strategic Partners; and Becky Dewitz, President and CEO of the Great Plains Zoo. (Presentation attached). There was discussion and questions from the Council which were answered by the presenters. 4. Public Comment Scott Ehrisman spoke about the amount of money involved with the Zoo upgrade. Jim Burzynski spoke about the attendance to the zoo is primarily because it is the only one nearby. Leigh Spencer, Education Director for the Zoo and the Butterfly House & Aquarium, spoke about the historical background of the two entities. Andrea Smith, Vice Chair for the Board of the Zoo and Aquarium, spoke about the vision for the Great Plains Zoo. 5.
