MINUTES Monday, July 11, 2011 Public Services Committee * 5:55 PM Carnegie Town Hall 235 West 10th Street Members Present: Kenny Anderson Jr., Sue Aguilar, Vernon Brown, and Michelle Erpenbach Members Absent: None Staff Present: Debra A. Owen, City Clerk/Chief of Council Operations and Tamara Jorgensen, CMC, Assistant City Clerk Guests: Paul Bengford, Kevin Smith, LuAnn Ford, Jessica Kokesh, Jill Franken, Dean Karsky, and Alicia Collura 1. Call To Order Council Chair Anderson Jr. called the meeting to order at 5:55 p.m. 2. Review and approval of Minutes dated June 13, 2011 A motion was made by Council Member Michelle Erpenbach and seconded by Council Member Vernon Brown to approve the minutes. All members present voted yes. Motion Passed. 3. Revising Health Department Ordinances dealing with 14 day notice requirement and issuing nuisance violations by Paul Bengford, Assistant City Attorney; and Alicia Collura, Health Department Paul Bengford, Assistant City Attorney, discussed the proposed nuisance violation ordinance changes. Discussion followed. LuAnn Ford, Public Health Manager, discussed specific types of cases where the nuisance violation timeline changes would be helpful. Discussion followed. Committee Chair Kenny Anderson Jr. complimented the code enforcement team on recent improvements. A motion was made by Council Member Sue Aguilar and seconded by Council Member Erpenbach to approve that the proposed ordinance move forward to the City Council for consideration. The Chairman called for a voice vote. All members voted yes. Motion Passed. 4. Open Discussion Committee Member Brown asked for a brief update on code enforcement from Kevin Smith, Assistant Director of Planning and Building Services. Discussion followed. 5. Adjournment A motion was made by Council Member Vernon Brown and seconded by Council Member Sue Aguilar to adjourn the meeting at 6:25 p.m. The Chairman called for a voice vote.
