Final Minutes Zoning Board of Adjustment Carnegie Town Hall Monday, October 16, 2017 6:00 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT MEMBERS ABSENT Elected Chairperson Aaron Norman Robert Everett Elected Vice-Chair Ryan Rients Michael Jones Billy Pollema Craig Markhardt Jacqueline Cole STAFF PRESENT Shawna Goldammer Bryan Wilcox The meeting was called to order at 6:10 p.m. ELECTION OF OFFICERS A motion was made by Jacqueline Cole and seconded by Ryan Rients to nominate Aaron Norman as Chairperson of the Board. Votes were unanimous and motion passed, election approved. A motion was made by Billy Pollema and seconded by Jacqueline Cole to nominate Ryan Rients as Vice-Chair of the Board. Votes were unanimous and motion passed, election approved. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF AUGUST 21, 2017 MEETING A motion was made Ryan Rients and seconded by Jacqueline Cole to approve the minutes of August 21, 2017. Chairperson Norman called for a voice vote. All members voted yes. Motion Passed. At 6:15pm a motion by Billy Pollema and seconded by Aaron Norman for a recess until the audio speakers & equipment starts operating. At 6:25pm the audio speakers & equipment started working and the meeting resumed. NEW BUSINESS Case BOA-007321-2017 Variance in the required rear yard setback from 25 feet to 9 feet for an addition. Applicant: Cory Hjellming Address: 2706 W. 33rd Street A motion was made by Billy Pollema and seconded by Jacqueline Cole to approve a variance in the required rear yard setback from 25 feet to 9 feet for an addition. Vote to approve: Roll Call: Yeses, Jacqueline Cole, Billy Pollema, Ryan Rients, Aaron Norman, 4. Noes, 0. Motion Passed. Variance Approved. Case BOA-007467-2017 Variance in the required front yard setback from 20 feet to 8 feet for a foyer and garage addition. Applicant: Leah Simmons Address: 701 E. 26th Street A motion was made by Billy Pollema and seconded by Ryan Rients to approve a variance in the required front yard setback from 20 feet to 8 feet for a foyer and garage addition with condition that the applicant file an encroachment easement at the Minnehaha County Register of Deeds acknowledging the neighbors roof overhangs onto their property prior to any building permit being issued. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Ryan Rients and seconded by Billy Pollema to adjourn the meeting at 6:53 p.m. Chairperson Norman called for a voice vote. All members voted yes. Motion Passed.
