Minutes
January 11, 2023 at 4:30 pm
Planning Conference Room, 250 Bouscaren St Suite 203, Slidell, LA
1. Call to Order and Roll Call. Meeting called to order by Commissioner Darby at 4:31 p.m.

2. Minutes. Motion by Commissioner Cramer to approve minutes of December 21, 2022 as written;
Commissioner Fawer seconded. A vote of 3 YAYS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSTAIN approved the minutes.
3. Public Hearings
a. CA23-01: A request for a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior renovations at 707 W. Hall
Avenue by Robert Thompson, owner.
Commissioner Cramer asked Robert Thompson to tell the Commission about the project.
Thompson stated that it has been quite some time since starting the project. Windows were done
without permit. Thompson then stated that he moved to Texas for about two years, and now that
he has returned, he would like to resume working on the house. Robert Schwab stated that the
windows and doors are the only things that have been replaced in the house. Commissioner
Cramer asked if anything else had been done to the exterior of the house, and Thompson replied
no, he wants to finish the interior work so he can move in. Thompson also mentioned that he
would build a fence around the air conditioning unit, as it is visible from the street.
Commissioner Cramer made a motion to approve the request, seconded by Commissioner Fawer
and passed with a vote of 3 YAYS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSTAIN.
4. Other Business
a. Election of 2023 Chair and Vice Chair
Commissioner Cramer nominated Darren Darby for Chair and Jessica Fawer for Vice Chair.
Darren Darby was elected Chair and Jessica Fawer was elected Vice Chair for the City of Slidell
Olde Towne Preservation District Commission for 2023 by a vote of 3 YAYS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSTAIN.
b. Approval of 2023 Meeting Calendar
Commissioner Darby, seconded by Commissioner Cramer, and a vote of 3 YAYS, 0 NAYS, 0
ABSTAIN, approved the 2023 Meeting Calendar on a motion.
5. Informational Items
a. Discussion of 2023 Goals and Objectives
This will be discussed at the February 8, 2023 meeting.

b. Continuing Education/Training
The Commission watched two videos, “2022 Louisiana’s Most Endangered Places Announcement”
(2minutes) and “Successful Landmark Commission Management-Lessons from Galveston” (18
minutes). This time will go toward the 4 hours of required continuing education.
6. General and Public Comments. There were none.
7. Adjournment. Meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m. on motion by Commissioner Fawer, seconded by
Commissioner Cramer, and a vote of 3 YAYS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSTAIN.
