Call to Order and Roll Call. Meeting called to order by Chair Darby at 5:06 p.m. Commissioners Present Commissioners Not Present Staff Present Darren Darby, Chair Daniel McElmurray, Planning Director Jason Clayton-5 :08 P.M. Erica Smith, Planning Secretary Michelle Cramer-5 :06-5 :30 P.M. Jordan Granier Jodi Stamps 2. Minutes. Motion by Commissioner Cramer to approve minutes of May 8, 2024 as written; Commissioner Clayton seconded. A vote of 4 YAYS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSTAIN approved the minutes. 3. Public Hearings a. CA24-25: A request for a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior alterations associated with home elevation grant program at 434 Mayfield Street, by Davie Shoring. Introduced by Chair Darby. Director McElmurray addressed the Commission with the staff report and recommended approval Mrs. Cathy Goutierrez, homeowner and Mr. Doug Taylor of Davie Shoring were present to answer questions by the Commission. Commissioner Clayton made a motion to approve Phase 1, Phase 2 and windows. Commissioner Cramer seconded the motion. A vote of 5 YAYS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSTAIN approved CA24-25. b. CA24-26: A request for a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior alterations for property located at 2137 First Street, by Gilbert Valencia. Introduced by Chair Darby. Director McElmurray addressed the Commission with the staff report and recommended approval. Mr. Gilbert Valencia, property owner was present to answer questions by the Commission. Chair Darby made a motion to approve with a suggestion to leave the brick as is. Commissioner Stamps seconded. A vote of 5 YAYS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSTAIN approved CA24-26. c. CA24-27: A request for a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior alterations associated with an addition to 1921 Bayou Lane, by Duffy Ramirez. Introduced by Chair Darby. Director McElmurray addressed the Commission with the Staff Report and recommended approval. There was no property owner or representatives present. Chair Darby made a motion to approve as written with the caveat the Planning Department will approve the example of the finishes. Commissioner Clayton seconded the motion. A vote of 4 YAYS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSTAIN approved CA24-27. d. CA24-28: A request for a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior alterations for property located at 1928 First Street, by Andrew R. Schwing. Introduced by Chair Darby. Director McElmurray addressed the Commission with the staff report and recommended approval. Commissioner Clayton made a motion to approve with the caveat that the Commission will approve the exterior lighting fixtures prior to installation. Chair Darby seconded the motion. A vote of 4 YAYS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSTAIN approved CA24- 28. 4. Other Business a. Director McElmurray presented to the Commission a request for a storage shed for City of Slidell Public Operations. Copies of the plans were distributed to the Commission and there was discussion. Chair Darby made a motion to include a statement on the pre-approval list stating that any exposed brick will require a Certificate of Appropriateness to be issued by Olde Towne Preservation District Commission. Commissioner Granier seconded. A vote of 4 YAYS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSTAIN approved the motion. b. Desire Line Presentation Evelyn Campo with Desire Line made a presentation about the upcoming Unified Development Code process and there was discussion. 5. Informational Items. There were none. 6. General and Public Comments. There were none. 7. Adjournment.
