Snohomish County Council Council Meeting Meeting Minutes Jared Mead, Council Chair Nate Nehring, Council Vice-Chair Councilmembers: Sam Low, Megan Dunn, Strom Peterson Monday, July 10, 2023 1:30 PM Jackson Board Room & Remote Meeting Communications Manager II Interview SPECIAL MEETING PRESENT: Council Chair Mead Vice-Chair Nehring Councilmember Low Councilmember Dunn Councilmember Peterson Heidi Beazizo, Chief of Staff Laura Tanis, Candidate Debbie Eco, Clerk of the Council 1. Call to Order Chair Mead called the Council to order at 1:30 p.m. and provided instructions for those wishing to provide public comment for both in-person and remote via Zoom. 2. Roll Call The clerk called the roll and stated that all five members were present. 3. Public Comment There were no persons present wishing to provide public comment. Council Interviews Candidate Laura Tanis for Communications Manager II Position Councilmembers introduced themselves and Heidi Beazizo, Chief of Staff, provided comments and explained the process for today. Councilmembers interviewed Laura Tanis for the Communications Manager II Position. EXECUTIVE SESSION At 1:54 p.m. Ms. Beazizo stated there is a need for an Executive Session to evaluate the qualifications of an applicant for public employment, pursuant to RCW 42.30.110(1)(g) for an estimated duration of five minutes with no anticipated action to follow. PRESENT: Council Chair Mead Vice-Chair Nehring Councilmember Low Councilmember Dunn Councilmember Peterson Heidi Beazizo, Chief of Staff Executive Session began at 1:55 p.m. for an initial five minutes to 2:00 p.m. At 2:00 p.m., the Chair extended the Executive Session five minutes to 2:05 p.m. At 2:05 p.m., the Chair extended the Executive Session five minutes to 2:10 p.m. At 2:10 p.m., the Chair extended the Executive Session five minutes to 2:15 p.m. At 2:15 p.m., the Chair extended the Executive Session five minutes to 2:20 p.m. At 2:20 p.m., the Chair extended the Executive Session three minutes to 2:23 p.m. At 2:23 p.m., the Chair extended the Executive Session three minutes to 2:26 p.m. At 2:26 p.m., the Chair extended the Executive Session three minutes to 2:29 p.m. The Executive Session ended at 2:29 p.m. [There was no action as a result of the Executive Session] At 2:30 p.m., Chair Mead called the Council back to order and thanked Ms. Tanis for coming out today.
