Village of South Amherst Board of Cemetery Trustees Meeting 11-8-2023 Mayor David Leshinski called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. Board Members present: Rosemary Leshinski, Marilyn Makruski Visitors: Mayor Leshinski, Emil Ruth of Go Green Landscaping, Larry Verga potential member Agenda: Rosemary Leshinski approved the agenda and Marilyn Makruski seconded. The roll was called in favor. Meeting minutes: Rosemary Leshinski moved to accept the minutes from Clerk for the October 2023 meeting. Financial Reporting- Board received financial statements. Rosemary Leshinski made a motion to accept. Marilyn Makruski seconded. The roll was called in favor. Old Business: Kevin Hipp from Franklin Monument in Norwalk attended the Oct. meeting. The board ask the cemetery clerk to schedule a meeting with the council and let him present his proposal to them about the columbarium installation. Field cameras: We need to buy new chips for the field cameras the old ones are missing from the cameras. There are 4 cameras. There also was a grate that was removed from catch basin and destroyed. The grate has been replaced and Natalie will order the chips for the cameras. Military monument footer pricing – needs ordinance. What was discovered is a price list from January of 2022 where the price list had “at cost”. In January 2023 the bylaws have the price at $50. Laurie says we need to approve in our minutes today a change in the price to reflect the cost for the installation. There are no other changes in the by laws at this time. We did vote and approve the language to read “at contractor’s cost” for the military marker footers on out price sheet. Rosemary made the motion to suspend the rules and add the price change as an emergency measure to ensure that correct pricing is in place for spring footers to be poured. Marilyn Makruski seconded the motion. Catch basin evaluation: We requested the BPA to check a catch basin that fills with water and needs a dye test. This has not been done, a reminder needs to be sent. It’s located on the west side of the road, at bottom of hill. David Spieker lot buy back : Finished. The cemetery purchased these lots back and sent him a check question. The lots will not be for resale at this time due to audit of this section. New Business: Part time seasonal help: The village worker has been reassigned and we have an opportunity to hire a seasonal /part -time worker. A job description will be put together and brought to the next meeting. Rosemary’s audits: Rosemary distributed copies of her current audit of section H and suggested we go over these by measuring the graves and creating records for those that are missing. There are still some errors on this. We need to go out and look. Its going to take a little bit of time to figure this out. Lowes Purchase order Natalie presented email from Michelle. A purchase order for paint has not been purchased. The order is for the fencing posts at Pioneer Cemetery. We will put this on hold until next spring. Approx 4 cans will be needed. Bukovec, James: Mr. Bukovec has questions as to location of his lot. He was notified that we would be talking tonight. We have some original deeds. 4 lots? There has been a bumping of lots everyone has been moved one spot to the south. There is a lot behind Charles (his father) we can offer him. It needs to be probed. There is another lot in front of the road that we could also offer that also needs probing. It’s all the way down the whole row that it appears to have been incorrectly place of graves. His memorial stone is on the spring footer list. We will go out tomorrow and look at it and keep Mr. Bukovec informed. Natalie: Sold a lot to a lady this evening. Her sister has a baby in babyland and would like to be interred in baby land as a cremation. Board: There are no burials in this section due to this section not being audited. Larry Verga introduced himself. He’s from Avon Lake and after High school has been in Columbus and just retired to Lorain County.
