Village of South Blooming Grove Regular Meeting Monday AUGUST 7, 2023 8:00pm  Call to order Mayor Kalaj called to order the Village Board Meeting at 8:16pm on August 7, 2023, for the Village of South Blooming Grove located at 811 State Route 208, within the Village of South Blooming Grove, and having a mailing address of Monroe, New York.  Roll call The following persons were present: o George Kalaj – Mayor o Abraham Weiss – Deputy Mayor o Asher Guttman- Trustee o Zalmon Rosner – Trustee o Isaac Ekstein – Legislative Aide to Mayor o Joel Stern – Confidential Assistant to the Mayor o Kerry Dougherty – Village Clerk o Todd Maurizzo – Fusco Engineering Absent o Yitzchok Feldman- Trustee (late arrival) o Zalmon Rosner - Trustee  Mayor’s Comments He wanted to thank the fire department for the new lines in village hall parking lot. Isaac Ekstein stated that forming the fire district is not something that came across from one day to the other. There were a lot of meetings with the existing fire department on this issue. He wanted to make it clear that forming the fire department in the Village of South Blooming Grove doesn’t mean we are forming the Kiryas Joel Fire Department, we are forming a fire department in the Village of South Blooming Grove and whoever wants to sign up to join the force is welcome to join the force, welcome to sign up. It is something the existing department doesn’t have. We will be an all inclusive fire agency and we will accept everyone, doesn’t matter what religion they practice, if they grow a beard or don’t grow a beard or mustache. The purpose is to be able to serve and protect this village, it doesn’t matter who you are.  Public Comment • Pete Castellano – last meeting he brough up site visibility, the clerk advised the state was called as well as the village highway department. There is a sign at the retention pond, its not in English, I don’t know what it says. Isaac Ekstein advised we will have highway take it down. Flooding at 19 Merriewold Lane South, culver it gone and washes onto his property. The supermarket is back open 1  Village of South Blooming Grove Regular Meeting Monday AUGUST 7, 2023 8:00pm in the supermarket. 4 and 6 Merriewold Lane South is housing a warehouse of goods for the store and it looks horrendous . A tractor trailer was there yesterday delivering goods, can something be done about that.  Business o Resolution No. (055) – Resolution of the Village Board of the Village of South Blooming Grove consenting to the incorporation of the Village of South Blooming Grove Fire Company No. 1, Inc. Motion to accept by Trustee Guttman, seconded by Mayor Kalaj. 3 Ayes, Mayor Kalaj, Deputy Mayor Weiss, Trustee Guttman. 2 Absent – Trustee Feldman and Trustee Rosner. o Resolution No. (056) – Resolution of the Village Board of the Village of South Blooming Grove appointing Scott Ugell, Esq. as Village Attorney.
