THE FOLLOWING MINUTES ARE SUBJECT TO MODIFICATION AND ARE NOT OFFICIAL MINUTES UNTIL APPROVED BY THE SPRING HILL GREEN BOARD Spring Hill Green Board Regular Meeting Minutes May 16, 2016 CALL TO ORDER Doug D’Albini called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm ROLL CALL Present: Doug D’Albini Mark Squire Laila Reis Absent: Stephen Bayer Staff Present: Beau Ford, Parks Superintendent Dora Davison, Green Board Secretary Meeting Attendees: Brad Teasdale APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion by Mark Squire, seconded by Laila Reis to approve the agenda. Motion carried 3-0. FORMAL BOARD ITEMS 1. Approval of Minutes: April 18, 2016 Motion by Laila Reis, seconded by Mark Squire to approve the Minutes. Motion carried 3-0. 2. July Green Board July meeting will be postponed until July 25th. 3. Arbor Day 2017 – The Green Board will continue to seek new ideas to promote Arbor Day. 4. Recycling – Ripple or AGC a. The Ripple Glass container has been placed in the Price Chopper parking lot. b. The Green Board members and Park Staff will monitor the container to ensure proper use. The Parks Staff will notify Ripple when the container needs to be emptied until there is a regular schedule in place. c. A group photo will be on the June Agenda, June 20th at 6:30. Dora Davison will invite Price Chopper management and a Ripple Glass representative to join as they were instrumental in gaining glass recycling for Spring Hill. 5. Parks Department Update – a. Spring Hill Aquatic Center preparations are underway and set to open Memorial Day weekend. b. West Lake Park access road has been named Veterans Lane. The City is currently accepting bids for this project. Spring Hill Green Board Meeting Minutes Page 1 of 2 THE FOLLOWING MINUTES ARE SUBJECT TO MODIFICATION AND ARE NOT OFFICIAL MINUTES UNTIL APPROVED BY THE SPRING HILL GREEN BOARD OTHER BUSINESS Brad Teasdale addressed the Board with a request for beautification through landscaping along the outer edge of the Cemetery property at the 800 block of W Lawrence. Mr. Teasdale and Laila Reis will be contacting the Cemetery Board to address this concern. Mr. Teasdale recommended the City promote the Gift Fund as a way for citizens to assist with projects as every contribution can make a difference. A citizen requested an update on the progress of Melvin Murray Park. Mr. Ford has contacted engineers and have a preliminary plan in place of a French drain system as well as raising the bank. The Melvin Murray project will be incorporated into the Parks Master Plan as a high priority item. The current algae and moss will be treated weather permitting, it is not cost effective to treat water when rain in expected as it dilutes the product rendering it ineffective. Mark Squire would like the Green Board to develop a more focused initiative. Mr. Squire would like the development of a bi-annual or 5 year plan be added to the next agenda for discussion.
