10. Other Business –
a. Fall Festival – Laila Reis and Doug D’Albini felt the recycled material sculpture contest
was a success. The community enthusiasm was encouraging. Many hope this will
become an annual event at Fall Festival. Suggestions for 2017 included a banner to
place on the booth, a more eloquent name for the contest, more prizes and candy to
pass out at the booth.
i. It was suggested to have Green Board brochures, member applications and a
comment/suggestion box at all future community events. Laila Reis will draft a
potential comment/suggestion card.
ii. One resident did voice concern over the lack of recycling bins at community
events. Doug D’Albini volunteered to research vendors that may provide
recycle bins for events at no charge such as Pepsi or Coke. City Staff will
research cost of purchasing recycle bins, if there are none secured at no charge.
Staff will also give a recommendation on storage and where to recycle after an
event.
b. Mark Squire would like to get the weight of recycled materials in 2015 as well as the
weight of recycled glass from the new Ripple Glass container.
