April 20, 2020
CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Doug D’Albini called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m.
Board Members in Attendance: Doug D’Albini
Tommy Holland
Carol Thomas
Board Members Absent: Mark Squire
Staff in Attendance: Dillon Jones, Parks Superintendent
Dora Davison, Administrative Assistant – Public Works
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Tommy Holland made a motion to forego reciting the pledge of allegiance in this virtual meeting
situation, the motion was seconded by Carol Thomas. Motion carried.
ROLL CALL
The Secretary called the roll of the Parks Advisory Board. With a quorum present, the meeting
commenced.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion by Carol Thomas, seconded by Tommy Holland, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
CITIZEN PARTICIPATION
None
FORMAL BOARD ITEMS
Approval of Minutes: February 17, 2020
Motion by Tommy Holland, seconded by Carol Thomas, to approve the February 17, 2020 meeting
minutes. Motion carried.
DISCUSSION
Board members reviewed a formal recommendation to the City Council to rename Melvin Murry
Park to Willow Park.
Carol Thomas made a motion to approve the recommendation, motion seconded by Tommy
Holland. Motion carried.

2021 & 2022 Budget Funding Request – Board members determined the $2,000 budget from
2020 would be adequate for the next 2 years. Funds will be used for events such as Daffodil Days
(Arbor Day), Fall Festival and Hometown Holidays.
Mr. Holland made a motion to request $2,000 in funding for the 2021 & $2,000 in funding for
2022, motion was seconded by Carol Thomas. Motion carried.
Carol Thomas suggested information regarding Emerald Ash Borer identification and prevention
be placed the Outlook to notify residents. Dillon Jones will work with City staff to accomplish
this.
Daffodil Days scheduled for April 25 has been cancelled. Dillon Jones is in contact with Spring Hill
Parks and Recreation for possible alternatives to the event.
Meeting time change to 7 pm
Tommy Holland made a motion to change the meeting time from 6 pm to 7pm, Carol Thomas
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
STAFF REPORT
Spring Hill Aquatic Center Consultation – Parks staff received 3 possible design ideas to the River
Slide from Lamp Rynearson. Dillon Jones will seek a recommendation from this board to be
made to the City Council after staff reviews the proposals.
Woodland Ridge Pond revitalization has been delayed; anticipated completion summer 2020.
Veterans Park construction by Mega is on schedule to be completed in June. Currently there is
not a set date for dedication of the park.
Members were asked if the virtual meeting is acceptable. All members found it a good
alternative and agreed it would be ideal for the May meeting.
