THE FOLLOWING MINUTES ARE SUBJECT TO MODIFICATION AND ARE NOT OFFICIAL MINUTES UNTIL APPROVED BY THE SPRING HILL PARKS ADVISORY BOARD Spring Hill Parks Advisory Board Virtual Meeting Minutes May 18, 2020 CALL TO ORDER Chairman Doug D’Albini called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. Board Members in Attendance: Doug D’Albini Tommy Holland Carol Thomas Board Members Absent: Mark Squire Staff in Attendance: Dillon Jones, Parks Superintendent Dora Davison, Administrative Assistant – Public Works PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Tommy Holland made a motion to forego reciting the pledge of allegiance in this virtual meeting situation, the motion was seconded by Carol Thomas. Motion carried. ROLL CALL The Secretary called the roll of the Parks Advisory Board. With a quorum present, the meeting commenced. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion by Tommy Holland, seconded by Carol Thomas, to approve the agenda. Motion carried. CITIZEN PARTICIPATION None FORMAL BOARD ITEMS Approval of Minutes: April 20, 2020 Motion by Carol Thomas, seconded by Tommy Holland, to approve the April 20, 2020 meeting minutes. Motion carried. DISCUSSION • Carol Thomas suggested information regarding Emerald Ash Borer identification and prevention be placed the Outlook to notify residents. Dillon Jones will work with City staff to accomplish this. Members were asked for any ideas to celebrate this event. Tommy Holland suggested the City provide a fireworks display in the evening. There was also a posting on Facebook inquiring about the restocking of fish in the lake. Mr. Jones stated that the established habitat has not been disturb during construction. STAFF REPORT • Spring Hill Aquatic Center 2020 Season opening has not yet been determined. City Council will discuss May 28th. • Willow Park name recommendation was not approved by the City Council. The Council has suggested this park area be a memorial space. The Parks Advisory Board would serve to approve applications. This agenda item will be discussed at the June meeting. Members discussed limited parking that would need to be addressed to accommodate increased visitors. It was also noted that this memorial space could serve for recognition and remembrance. OTHER BUSINESS • Carol Thomas would like to discuss the care of the Webster Street flags. She suggested that if the city cannot take them down when damaged they may want to consider not putting them up. ADJOURN Motion by Tommy Holland, seconded by Carol Thomas, to adjourn. Motion carried.
