RECORD OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT CHARLES, MISSOURI January 17, 2017 ______________________________________________________________________________ The City Council convened in a Regular City Council Meeting on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the fourth floor of City Hall, 200 North Second Street, with President of the Council Mary Ann Ohms, presiding and the Members of the Council present as follows: Dave Beckering, Tom Besselman, Laurie Feldman, John Hanneke, Rod Herrmann, Bridget Ohmes, Jerry Reese and Mary West. Absent: Mayor Sally A. Faith. City Clerk Laura L. Whitehead was present and performed the duties of that office. File #48664 The meeting was opened with the Invocation, those present standing in a moment of silence, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. PUBLIC HEARING There were no public hearings. REPORT OF THE MAYOR/AWARDS/PROCLAMATIONS/PRESENTATIONS Presentation of the 2017 Human Relations Commission Award Councilmember John Hanneke presented the 2017 City of Saint Charles Human Relations Commission Award to Matt Miller, Community Ministry Pastor at Calvary Church. Mr. Miller thanked the City of Saint Charles for the award; however, he stated this award also belongs to his home church and all of the others who work alongside of him. Councilmember Dave Beckering thanked Mr. Miller and reported Mr. Miller is the founder and director of the Neighbor Helping Neighbor Service Coalition. Mr. Beckering explained the Coalition provides care to families in need by linking agencies together. Verbal Update on Various Road Projects Director of Engineering Jerry Hurlbert provided a brief update on the following projects: Kingshighway, I-70/Fifth Street/Fairgrounds Overpass, Water Tower and Prop P Projects. Mr. Hurlbert further reported the City will be hosting a transportation open house/road show on Tuesday, January 24th at the Police Station, Wednesday, January 25th at City Hall and January 31st at Fire Station No. 4. All open houses will be held from 3-7pm. Councilmember Tom Besselman requested a traffic study for Kingshighway after the project is completed. Councilmember Bridget Ohmes requested the list of the 14 projects and the list of the small unidentified stormwater projects. Councilmember Laurie Feldman requested a synopsis of the upcoming transportation open house be put together and placed on her city facebook page and webpage.
