February 21, 2017

The City Council convened in a Regular City Council Meeting on Tuesday, February 21, 2017,
at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the fourth floor of City Hall, 200 North Second Street,
with President of the Council Mary Ann Ohms, presiding, The Honorable Mayor Sally A. Faith
and the Members of the Council present as follows: Dave Beckering, Tom Besselman, John
Hanneke, Rod Herrmann, Bridget Ohmes, Jerry Reese and Mary West. Absent: Laurie Feldman.
City Clerk Laura L. Whitehead was present and performed the duties of that office.

The meeting was opened with the Invocation, those present standing in a moment of silence,
followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
A motion was made by MARY WEST to excuse the absence of Councilmember Laurie
Feldman. BRIDGET OHMES seconded the motion. All voted in favor, motion passed.

There were no public hearings.
REPORT OF THE MAYOR/AWARDS/PROCLAMATIONS/PRESENTATIONS
Recognition of Kristina Ball for her Life Saving Efforts on Friday, December 23, 2016
The Honorable Mayor Sally A. Faith announced Miss Ball was not able to attend tonight’s
meeting and the family has requested to attend the March 7, 2017 Regular City Council Meeting.
Proclamation Proclaiming February 21 – 28, 2017 as Ron Stivison Memorial Week
The Honorable Mayor Sally A. Faith read a proclamation proclaiming February 21 – 28, 2017 as
Ron Stivison Memorial Week. Dale Stivison and Gary Stivison accepted the proclamation.
Update from the Department of Engineering Relative to Various Road Projects
Director of Engineering Jerry Hurlbert provided a brief update on the following road projects:
Droste Road, First Capitol, Zumbehl Road & Friedens, Hwy 370 Pedestrian Bridge, Truman
Road Phase I & II, and Muegee Road. Mr. Hurlbert provided a brief update on the
foam/mudjacking sidewalk project and miscellaneous maintenance projects.
Update from Convention & Visitors Bureau Relative to the Statistics for Christmas
Traditions from 2016 compared to 2014
Director of Convention & Visitors Bureau Joe Ward provided a review of the report distributed
regarding the stats for Christmas Traditions from 2016 compared to 2014.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM COUNCILMEMBERS/MISCELLANEOUS
Written and/or Verbal Messages from the Council Members
Councilmember Jerry Reese announced Bogey Hills Country Club experienced a fire and the
building and its contents were a total loss. Mr. Reese further reported the Foundry Art Centre is
offering to help those who have wedding reception reservations at Bogey by offering a 20%
discount for rental space at the Foundry. Contact the Foundry Art Centre and speak to either
Melissa or Jillian for assistance.
APPROVAL OF CLOSED MINUTES
A motion was made by DAVE BECKRING to approve the following closed session minutes:
A. City Council Work Session on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, and following the
required roll call vote in open session, the Council convened in closed session
relative to legal actions, causes of action, or litigation (RSMo 610.021.1) and
preparation, including any discussions or work product, on behalf of the Council
or its representatives for negotiations with employee groups (RSMo 610.021.9) at
6:30 p.m.
JERRY REESE seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken, with the following results:
