RECORD OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT CHARLES, MISSOURI November 19, 2019 ______________________________________________________________________________ The City Council convened in a Regular City Council Meeting on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at 7:15 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the fourth floor of City Hall, 200 North Second Street, with President of the Council Mary West, presiding, and the Honorable Mayor Daniel J. Borgmeyer and Members of the Council present as follows: Tom Besselman, Michael Flandermeyer, Bart Haberstroh. Bridget Ohmes, Mary Ann Ohms, Vince Ratchford, Jerry Reese and David Seitzer. Absent: None. City Clerk Laura Whitehead was present and performed the duties of that office. File #48881 The meeting was opened with the Invocation, those present standing in a moment of silence, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. *Councilmember Mary Ann Ohms advanced to Council Bill 12973 and tabled Council Bill 12973 to the third Tuesday in December in order for Councilmembers to have additional time to review and work on the bill. PUBLIC HEARING (none) AWARDS/PROCLAMATIONS/PRESENTATIONS Presentation of Proclamation Declaring November 18 – 22, 2019 as “American Education Week” The Honorable Mayor Daniel J. Borgmeyer presented a proclamation declaring November 18 – 22, 2019 as American Education Week. Larry DuFour representing the St. Charles Legion Post 312 accepted the proclamation. Mr. DuFour reported 5th grade students from the community were asked to write an essay titled “Why I Like Police Officers and Firefighters.” The following students were recognized: Brianna Krueger, Immanuel Lutheran – 1st Place; Matthew Kaushik, St. Charles Borromeo – 2nd Place; Alyssa Wilson, St. Charles Borromeo – 3rd Place and Josh Wolf, St. Charles Borromeo – 3rd Place. Brianna and Alyssa were in attendance and read their winning essays. REPORT OF THE MAYOR Written and/or Verbal Messages from Mayor Daniel J. Borgmeyer There were no messages presented. ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM COUNCILMEMBERS/MISCELLANEOUS Written and/or Verbal Messages from Councilmembers Councilmember Michael Flandermeyer announced the St. Charles Municipal Band Holiday Concert will be performing at the Lindenwood University J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts on December 10 at 7:00 p.m. after a short intermission at 8:00 p.m. the Big Band will close out the evening.
