On Monday, August 17, 2015, at 6:00 p.m., the City of St. Charles Landmarks Board will
hold its regular monthly meeting in the Council Chambers on the fourth floor of City Hall,
200 North Second Street, St. Charles, Missouri. The agenda for this meeting is as follows:

present at the meeting to answer any questions the Board may have concerning your application.

2. Consent Agenda
(A) Case No. C/A 2015-43(EC). 431 Houston Street. Salvatore Lombardo. The
applicant is requesting approval to install a 4-foot tall wood picket fence in the rear

(B) Case No. C/A 2015-45(EC). 621 South Fifth Street. Julie Wiechens. The
applicant is requesting approval to replace the house’s windows and to install vinyl
shakes on the dormers. [Extended Historic Preservation District, Ward 2]
(C) Permit No. 15-3678. 119 South Main Street. Jim Droste. The applicant is
requesting approval of wall signage for the Old Post Office. [Historic Downtown
District, Ward 1]

(D) Case No. C/A 2015-3706. 107 North Main Street. Sally Bohnenstiehl. The
applicant is requesting approval to install a hanging sign from the balcony for her
business, Baubles Bites & Boots. [Historic Downtown District, Ward 1]
(E) Case No. C/A 2015-49(SP). 400 North Sixth Street. Russell F. Leary, Jr. The
applicant is requesting approval to replace the retaining wall at the rear of Benton
School, along Benton Avenue. [Extended Historic Preservation District, Ward 1]

(A) Permit No. 15-3703. 523 South Main Street. Harry Sneed. The applicant is
requesting approval of a projecting sign for Literary Harry’s. [South Main
Preservation District, Ward 2]
5. Structure Review
Section 400.1180 Purpose
The purpose of this subchapter is to protect, enhance, and perpetrate buildings,
structures, districts, and sites of historical, cultural, architectural, engineering or
geographic significance. Further, protection of cultural assets from demolition by
neglect is an objective of this subchapter.
Please note: Obtaining a Certificate of Appropriateness from the Landmarks Board
does not authorize the applicant to build a structure. Building permits are required
prior to construction.
(A) REVISIONS—TABLED AT THE JULY 20, 2015, MEETING
Case No. C/A 2014-57(EC). 307 Pike Street. Deborah Franks. The applicant is
requesting approval of revisions to a previously-approved project, including
changes to the gallery and front doors. [Extended Historic Preservation District,

(B) TABLED AT THE JULY 20, 2015, MEETING
Case No. C/A 2015-37(EC). 725 North Fifth Street. Gail & Mike Suellentrop.
The applicants are requesting approval to remove the front gallery. [Extended

(C) Case No. C/A 2015-47(EC). 1022 South Main Street. Dan Borgmeyer. The
applicant is requesting approval to replace a chain link fence with a combination
ornamental steel and a black chain link fence. [South Main Preservation District,
Ward 2]
(D) Case No. C/A 2015-48(EC). 1028-1038 South Main Street. Dan Borgmeyer. The
applicant is requesting approval to install a chain link fence along the front of the
four lots and along the south property line of 1038 South Main on a temporary

(E) Case No. C/A 2015-31(SP). 1223 North Fifth Street. Joe and Emily Jackson. The
applicants are requesting after-the-fact approval to place an above-ground pool in
the rear yard. [Extended Historic Preservation District, Ward 1]
(F) REVISION
Case No. C/A 2014-07(SP). 300 South Main Street. Bill Elliott. The applicant is
requesting approval of light fixtures that were placed under the balcony. [South
Main Preservation District, Ward 2]
(G) Case No. C/A 2015-30(D). 716 Washington Street. Stephen and Christine
Douglas. The applicants are requesting approval to demolish the detached garage.
