LANDMARKS BOARD AGENDA FOR REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 17, 2015 LANDMARKS BOARD: Steve Martin, Chairperson Christine Berry, Vice Chair Gene Wood, Secretary Tom Kuypers Michelle Beucke Denise Mitchell Angela Schulte Cheryl Primm Tom Besselman, Council Liaison Mesdames and Gentlemen: On Monday, August 17, 2015, at 6:00 p.m., the City of St. Charles Landmarks Board will hold its regular monthly meeting in the Council Chambers on the fourth floor of City Hall, 200 North Second Street, St. Charles, Missouri. The agenda for this meeting is as follows: Attention Applicants: It is necessary that you or a knowledgeable representative of your interests be present at the meeting to answer any questions the Board may have concerning your application. Failure to provide answers to the Board’s questions may result in your application being tabled or denied. 1. Call to order and call the roll. 2. Consent Agenda (A) Case No. C/A 2015-43(EC). 431 Houston Street. Salvatore Lombardo. The applicant is requesting approval to install a 4-foot tall wood picket fence in the rear yard. [Extended Historic Preservation District, Ward 7] (B) Case No. C/A 2015-45(EC). 621 South Fifth Street. Julie Wiechens. The applicant is requesting approval to replace the house’s windows and to install vinyl shakes on the dormers. [Extended Historic Preservation District, Ward 2] (C) Permit No. 15-3678. 119 South Main Street. Jim Droste. The applicant is requesting approval of wall signage for the Old Post Office. The applicant is requesting approval to install a hanging sign from the balcony for her business, Baubles Bites & Boots. Leary, Jr. The applicant is requesting approval to replace the retaining wall at the rear of Benton School, along Benton Avenue. [Extended Historic Preservation District, Ward 1] 3. Items Removed from the Consent Agenda 4. Sign Permit Applications (A) Permit No. 15-3703. 523 South Main Street. Harry Sneed. The applicant is requesting approval of a projecting sign for Literary Harry’s. [South Main Preservation District, Ward 2] 5. Structure Review Section 400.1180 Purpose The purpose of this subchapter is to protect, enhance, and perpetrate buildings, structures, districts, and sites of historical, cultural, architectural, engineering or geographic significance. Further, protection of cultural assets from demolition by neglect is an objective of this subchapter. Please note: Obtaining a Certificate of Appropriateness from the Landmarks Board does not authorize the applicant to build a structure. Building permits are required prior to construction. (A) REVISIONS—TABLED AT THE JULY 20, 2015, MEETING Case No. C/A 2014-57(EC). 307 Pike Street. Deborah Franks. The applicant is requesting approval of revisions to a previously-approved project, including changes to the gallery and front doors. The applicants are requesting approval to remove the front gallery. [Extended Historic Preservation District, Ward 1] (C) Case No. C/A 2015-47(EC). 1022 South Main Street. Dan Borgmeyer. The applicant is requesting approval to replace a chain link fence with a combination ornamental steel and a black chain link fence. The applicant is requesting approval to install a chain link fence along the front of the four lots and along the south property line of 1038 South Main on a temporary basis. The applicants are requesting after-the-fact approval to place an above-ground pool in the rear yard. The applicant is requesting approval of light fixtures that were placed under the balcony. [South Main Preservation District, Ward 2] (G) Case No. C/A 2015-30(D). 716 Washington Street.
