City Council Regular Meeting

CITY OF STAR COUNCIL MEETING July 28, 1998  The Star City Council met in Special session on July 28, 1998, for a FY 1998-99 budget workshop. Mayor Watson presiding. Roll call: Amsden, O'Connor, Embury, Ross, Winkle. Absent: Kirtley Budget: Discussion regarding the budget draft centered on property taxes. This coming year will be the first year the City of Star will be able to collect taxes. It is crucial to the City to initiate a sum that will provide the City a future acceptable tax base. This is the only time the City will be able to set a dollar amount to the budget. The subsequent years property tax will be based on a 3% limitation set by state law. Discussion concluded that we need more information from the Ada County Sheriff’s Office regarding a proposed agreement for services, if and when the services are going to cost the City and when that cost is expected. The City Clerk was asked to provide that information through the Sheriff’s Office or the City Attorney and bring the information back to Council as a continued budget workshop. Moved by Winkle and seconded by Ross to adjourn the meeting.
