STERLING HEIGHTS CULTURAL COMMISSION Minutes of Tuesday, October 2, 2012 Meeting Location: Sterling Heights City Hall, 40555 Utica Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48313, Conference Room 202, 6 p.m. Members Present: Maurice Batarseh, Josephine Berthet, Ronald Bindle, David Bollman, Jan Burns, Frank DiMaria, Margaret Frontiera, Jeanne Schabath, Donald Schinzing, John Stampor Members Absent: Grace Finazzo, Eboni LaMar Representing the City: Steve Guitar and Karen Kazmer WELCOME: Maurice Batarseh introduced Jeanne Schabath, the newest Cultural Commission board member. APPROVAL OF MINUTES : Motion to approve the meeting minutes of the September 4, 2012 Cultural Commission made by Donald Schinzing. Seconded by: Josephine Berthet Ayes: all Nays: none AGENDA ITEMS: A. Artist of the Month  No applications were received for the Artist of the Month Program. A press release will be written and sent to all media. B. Sculpture Proposal  David Bollman submitted a proposal for the painting of “Spiral Note”.  Discussion on the method to be used on the painting/maintenance of sculptures.  The method of powder coating was suggested. Jeanne Schabath will request a quote from vendors of General Dynamics.  David Bollman suggests “Spiral Note” be painted a bright, fun color; the artist of the sculpture will have to approve before painting is done.  David Bollman will present another proposal to include maintenance of other sculptures on site. OLD BUSINESS:  John Stampor has requested the meeting minutes from June 5, 2012 be amended to reflect he was in attendance at that meeting. Mr.  Stampor walked into meeting as it was ending due to confusion of start time of meeting. NEW BUSINESS:  Don Schinzing will not be in attendance at the November 7, 2012 meeting.  Board members will discuss December 2012 meeting next month.  Steve Guitar suggested board members promote Sterlingfest if they attend holiday shows.
