STERLING HEIGHTS ARTS COMMISSION Minutes of Tuesday, September 1 , 2015 Meeting Location: Sterling Heights City Hall, 40555 Utica Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48313, Conference Room Members Present: Maurice Batarseh, Ron Bindle, Jan Burns, Grace Finazzo, Margaret Frontiera, Jeanne Schabath, Donald Schinzing, John Stampor, Mona Yassine Members Absent: David Bollman, Frank DiMaria, Shawn Taylor Representing the City: Bridget Doyle, Karen Kazmer Meeting called to order at 6:00 p.m. COMMUNICATION FROM CITIZENS: Joe Burns presented a check to the Arts Commission in the amount of $3,750 from the 3rd Annual Sterlingfast. 420 registered for the race and 385 participated. The only employee cost for the race was to the Police Department; Mr. Burns will present a $1,600 check to Sgt. Burgess for the trail system. APPROVAL OF MINUTES : Motion to approve the meeting minutes of the June 2, 2015 Art Commission made by Jeanne Schabath. Seconded by: Jan Burns Ayes: all Nays: none AGENDA ITEMS : A. Sterlingfest  For consideration for 2016 Sterlingfest:  Artists pay additional for parking behind vendor space  Artists pay additional for electricity  Artists selling any type of food item must attend Health Department meeting  Previous artist booth location provided at jury night B. Featured Artist  Two applications reviewed:  Application received from Regina Celmer was not accepted  Commission members requested more information from artist Veronica Selke; Karen Kazmer will email artist. C. 2015-16 Meeting Calendar  Commission members reviewed the meeting calendar for 2015-16 year. Motion to approve the 2015-16 meeting calendar including the cancelation of the December 2015 meeting made by Jeanne Schabath. Seconded by: Mona Yassine Ayes: all Nays: none OLD BUSINESS :  Commission members requested information on the amount of money available for spending in their endowment fund with the Community  Foundation. Members will then determine repair work on sculptures along the Sterlingscapes walk. For discussion at the October meeting. NEW BUSINESS:  Discussion regarding proxy voting; members tabled this discussion for the October meeting. Motion to adjourn at 7 p.m. made by Margaret Frontiera.
