Minutes of Tuesday, March 1 , 2016 Meeting

Members Present: Jan Burns, Judi Dent, Jazmine Early, Grace Finazzo, Jeanne
Schabath, John Stampor
Members Absent: Ron Bindle, David Bollman, Frank DiMaria, Margaret Frontiera,
Shawn Taylor, Mona Yassine
Representing the City: Bridget Doyle, Karen Kazmer
Meeting called to order at 6:25 p.m. at which time a quorum was reached
APPROVAL OF MINUTES :
Motion to approve the meeting minutes of the February 2, 2016 Art Commission
made by Grace Finazzo.
Seconded by: John Stampor Ayes: all Nays: none
COMMUNICATION FROM CITIZENS :
A. Grand Marshal for Memorial Day Parade
Steve Bilan has confirmed Joe Organek Jr as the grand marshal for the
2016 Memorial Day Parade.
Community Relations will send Mr. Organek a welcome letter outlining
details of the parade.
B. Display of Artwork
Community Relations received an email from the Director for Integrated
Living requesting a venue to display artwork done by adults with
disabilities.
Correspondence will be sent regarding the procedure for applying for
Featured Artist.
AGENDA ITEMS :
A. Memorial Day Parade
Parade applications were mailed with notification of the shortened
parade route.
B. Sterlingfest
Applications to artists, food vendors and restaurants have been mailed.
OLD BUSINESS:
Bridget Doyle confirmed Art in the Park will be held in June, July, August
and September. The teacher has confirmed and will purchase all
materials and pay pavilion rental fee. Art commission members will
volunteer at the event.
The Art Commission and Ethnic Community Committee will take a tour of
the DIA on Friday, April 15th. Community Relations will email a sign-up
sheet to both commissions for members to reserve space. Transportation
will be provided by the City.
Jeanne Schabath spoke with Steve Bilan regarding panting of the VFW
building on Mound Road. Ms. Schabath stated this project could be part of
the Public Art Program. Mr. Bilan will check with the owner of building
regarding this project.
Jeanne Schabath asked if Jan Burns & David Bollman had discussed the
proposition of teens working on a community project. Ms. Burns
suggested schools be contacted.
