Memorial Day Parade Recap  Schabath said that she received a couple of negative comments regarding the Right to Life and the Right to Vote floats.  Kozlowski stated that City Administration is going to re-visit the application process. The event has become a highly politicized event, we need to ensure that applicants stick with having the American/Military theme, and allow everyone to be accepted because of the 1st Amendment. Kozlowski stated that we won't be able to choose applicants, but can deny them if they do not adhere to the theme.  Bindle stated that commission members do not have a lot of recourse once the group shows up at the parade. Bindle added that participants need to respect their order in the line-up. There were groups that cut in-between other groups. Giallombardo stated that city employees and volunteers will pay more attention to that in the future.  Bollman stated that the band participation was nice, two bands continued to play and "battle" at Heritage. One band stated that the Right to Vote (Trump) float was very loud and drowned out their band.  Schabath added that the Rosie's were a big hit. B. Review of Parade Bands  Commission members selected band and float winners:  Best of Show Band: River Rouge High School  Runner-Up Best of Show Band: Henry Ford II High School  Best Float: Boy Scout Troop 154  Runner-Up Float: Trail Life Troop C. Public Art Program  Kozlowski stated that the X's & O's sculpture has been picked up for refurbishing, as was the Centipede and the Spiral Note. The expense will come out of the Public Art Fund. Bindle asked if the Centipede can be moved, Kozlowski stated that the city is open to location ideas.  Kozlowski stated that The Arts piece could not be repaired, so the city purchased "The Flying Dutchman"  The library mural is 3/4 of the way complete; SHTV has been taping the progression. Kozlowski will schedule a ribbon cutting once it's complete and keep the Commission members posted on the details.  Kozlowski said that the underpass mural artist, Louise Chen will begin mid- June, the area is being power-washed first.  Kozlowski stated that the mural behind BP will be painted by Wendy Popko, she has signed the agreement and will paint the Bears with the Earth in the background. D. Featured Artist  Giallombardo shared two potential Artists of the Month; both were accepted. E. Sterlingfest 2018  Kozlowski stated that the Rice Guyz reached out and asked to be accepted, she allowed them to be in since they had been accepted in previous years.  Giallombardo distributed the sign-up sheet for members to volunteer.
