CITY OF STERLING HEIGHTS MINUTES OF THE ELECTION COMMISSION OCTOBER 8, 2019 Location: Conference Room 201, City Hall, 40555 Utica Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48313 1. Meeting called to order and roll call. Chair Ryska called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. Commissioners present: Wayne Davis, Joseph Niman, Jr., Melanie D. Ryska, City Clerk Also present: Judy McHale, Clerk Coordinator 2. Approval of Agenda. Motion by Davis, seconded by Niman, to approve the agenda as presented. Yes: All Motion carried. 3. Approval of Meeting Minutes of September 4, 2019. Motion by Davis, seconded by Niman, to approve the meeting minutes of September 4, 2019 as presented. Yes: All Motion carried. 4. To consider establishment of absent voter counting boards for the November 5, 2019 City General Election Clerk Ryska outlined the process changes that will be made to the AVCB to increase efficiencies, including the addition of a Supervisor and specialized training for each position. Motion by Niman, seconded by Davis, to approve Absent Voter Counting Boards for the November 5, 2019 City General Election, at the discretion of the City Clerk. To appoint Election Inspectors and Receiving Board Members for the November 5, 2019 City General Election The Commission reviewed the lists of workers. Motion by Davis, seconded by Niman, to appoint Election Inspectors and Receiving Board Members for the November 5, 2019 City General Election, and to authorize the City Clerk to add additional inspectors as necessary. Yes: All Motion carried. 6. Communication from Citizens. None 7. Old Business. Clerk Ryska provided the Commission with a list of election inspector training dates/time and invited them to attend. The Commission then discussed the Post-Election Field Rep meeting notes and the November 2018 Post Election Survey results. 8. New Business. None. 9.
