Sterling Heights Historical Commission October 1 , 2020 Minutes 6:00 p.m. Meeting Meeting held via conference call Please call 1 929 205 6099 Enter Meeting ID 978 7869 1796 MINUTES I Call to Order Meeting was called to order by Mott at 6:03p.m. II Roll Call Present: Cynthia Appleton, Nicholas Cavalli, John Connor, Douglas J. Harvey, Meghan Mott, Mark Schell, Bryan Wojciechowski, Tammy Turgeon Excused: none III Approval of Agenda Motion to approve the agenda was made by Connor, supported by Harvey. Motion carried. IV Minutes of August 6 , 2020 Motion to approve the minutes was made by Appleton, supported by Connor. Motion carried. V Communications/Reports/ Correspondance Turgeon shared 4 & 400 presentation with Commissioners. Document about the History of the Macomb County Public Works Office was received from the Macomb County Public Works Commissioner. VI Unfinished Business A. Historical Marker Program No new applications B. Sterling Heights History Traveling Box All items were purchased. Danielle took them to the Museum. Waiting for reimbursement. C. Park and Canal Markers K. Langlois has to pick up the sign for Dodge Park. Harvey has timber display to share. D. Cataloging Commissioners should complete 10 forms each before December meeting. The new librarian will attend the next meeting to talk about how this project will proceed. E. Funeral Customs Program Filming will take place October 5th. Promotion will be done by SHTV, city social media and the Library. Program will be held on October 23rd at 7pm. Film will be shown and then zoom discussion will follow. F. History is Happening Now Program Update Wojciechowski’s form. Groth will add graphic to flyer. Suggested providing certificates to those that participate. Turgeon will send completed flyer to UCS and WCS to promote. G. Upton House Museum Winter Hours The Upton House Museum will be open on the second Sunday of each month and Wednesdays from 1-4pm starting in January. Appointments will be taken through the Library Calendar system and limited to up to 4 people from the same household for 30 minutes. Cavalli and Wojciechowski were interested in working on an audio tour. Groth will promote winter hours by appointment via social media. The outside of the house will be decorated and candles will be put in the windows. Sign will be put on the door explaining closed until January. VII New Business A. Online Trivia Program This will be scheduled for February 10 , 2021 at 6pm. Need trivia questions created and someone to be the host. B. City Summer Magazine Article Commission suggested that the new librarian write the article describing the Museum and what artifacts are inside. VIII Communications from Citizens Harvey suggested that Commissioners search online to watch videos about museum tours. Example was “walk through bicycle museum”. Should consider this for the future. IX Adjourn Motion to adjourn was made by Cavalli, supported by Connor. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:06 p.m. Next meeting December 3 , 2020 "The City of Sterling Heights will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services to individuals with disabilities at the meeting upon seven days notice to the Community Relations Office at 586-446-CITY (2489)."
