VI. Monthly Reports, Statistics, and Correspondence
A. Building-Wide Stats – FY2011 / FY2012
Board reviewed statistics. Many categories were
down compared to last year, but this was expected
due to less staff being available for questions and
fewer materials being purchased. The increase in
the collection size is due to the delay in weeding
of materials from the collection.
B. Monthly Issues – June 2012
Board reviewed the monthly issues report. Power
outages occurred the last week of June and the first
week of July. Only one program had to be cancelled.
It will be rescheduled. Summer Reading is going very
well so far this year. Two new pages started in Adult
Services.
C. Compliment/Complaint Forms
Board reviewed compliments and complaints.
The library continues to receive many positive comments
about our programming offerings, including the Family
Crafts, Star Wars Day and the Baffling Bill magic show.
Turgeon spoke with resident about air conditioning.
The temperature has been adjusted to a few degrees
warmer, but we have to keep in mind all of the computers
and people in the building that cause the building to get
warm quickly. We will continue to monitor it.
VII. Suburban Library Cooperative
No report.
VIII. Friends of the Library
A. Bookstore Sales
Bookstore sales for 2012 are down from last year.
A Target gift card giveaway helped to increase sales for
June. The bookstore will be open during Sterlingfest.
Schinzing mentioned some statistics related to used book
sales vs. coffee shops in libraries. The coffee shops
generate median income of $2,500, while used book sales
generate median income of $5,000. Our Friends of the
Library Bookstore generates an average of $60,000.
Great job Friends!
