I. Call to Order
Meeting was called to order by Chris Frezza, Chair, at 5:40 p.m.
II. Roll Call
Members Present: Josephine Berthet, Dave Brown, Chris Frezza, June Hughes,
Stacy Ziarko
Members Absent: none
III. Approval of Agenda
Motion to approve the Agenda was made by Brown, seconded by Berthet. Motion
carried.
IV. Approval of Minutes
Motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of September 18, 2017 was made by
Ziarko, seconded by Hughes. Motion carried.
V. Communication from Citizens
Turgeon provided a demo of the grant funded drones that are being used with teen
programming.
VI. Monthly Reports, Statistics, and Correspondence
A. Building-Wide Stats – FY2017 / FY2018
Board reviewed statistics. There was a large increase in patrons added due to the
Virtual Library Card program. Wireless usage continues to increase. Room usage
is also high. Circulation is higher this fiscal year during the first four months
compared to the first four months of last fiscal year.
B. Monthly Issues – September and October 2017
Board reviewed the monthly issues reports. Highlights discussed: Exercise Your
Brain, WiFi Hotspots and Go Chip collections were all presented at City Council
meetings. The September Library Card Month program went well. Two new staff
members were hired: Stephanie Fair and Jadwiga Meyer are our newest PT
Librarians.
C. Compliment/Complaint Forms
Board reviewed compliments. Received compliments for the Teen Night program,
Suess Celebration, and the Heartfulness Meditation series of programs. Staff
recognition was received for Jessica Woodward. Board reviewed
suggestions/complaints. Suggestion to have a genealogy program was forwarded
to Programs Coordinator. Suggestion for various children’s programs was
forwarded to Programs Coordinator. Suggestion for trash bins in women’s
restrooms was taken care of.
VII. Suburban Library Cooperative
A. SLC Annual Meeting
The SLC Annual Breakfast is on Monday, December 4th at 9:30am at the Clinton-
Macomb South Branch Library. Tammy will speak as well as two representatives
from SEMCOG.
VIII. Friends of the Library
A. Bookstore Report
The bookstore sales for this year are behind last year. Ziarko attended the last
Friends Board meeting and provided suggestions for fundraisers that will be
discussed at the next Friends Board meeting in January.
B. Friends 2018 Budget
The Friends continue to be generous with their funding of all of the programming
that the library does, as well as the cost for the Overdrive service. The total budget
for 2018 is $54,000.

X. New Business
A. 2018 Proposed Library Closings
Motion to approve the 2018 Library Closings was made by Brown, supported by
Berthet. Motion carried.
XI. Adjourn
Motion was made by Ziarko to adjourn, supported by Berthet. Motion carried. Meeting
adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
