City Council Work Session May 1, 2019 Work Session of the Suffolk City Council was held in the City Council Chamber, 442 West Washington Street, on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, 5:30 p.m. PRESENT Council Members - Linda T. Johnson, Mayor, presiding Leroy Bennett, Vice Mayor Michael D. Duman Roger W. Fawcett Donald Z. Goldberg Timothy J. Johnson Curtis R. Milteer, Sr. Lue R. Ward, Jr. Patrick G. Roberts, City Manager Helivi L. Holland, City Attorney Erika S. Dawley, City Clerk ABSENT None SUFFOLK EXECUTIVE AIRPORT AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UPDATE Utilizing a PowerPoint presentation, Economic Development Director Kevin Hughes offered a review of the above referenced item. Referring to the presentation, Vice Mayor Bennett queried about the sufficient availability of hangars at the Suffolk Executive Airport to meet customer demand. Economic Development Director Hughes explained that currently there are a sufficient number of hangars for rental to meet customer demand. Referring to the presentation, Council Member Duman opined about the formality of the City’s agreement with Suffolk Public Schools, as it relates to the Suffolk School to Work Program. Economic Development Director Hughes reported that the program is only as successful as all parties involved. Referring to the presentation, Council Member Duman sought information about the fees for the City’s Great Dismal Swamp kayak tours. Economic Development Director Hughes stated that the City uses a vendor to provide the tours, which results in the need for a fee. 1 City Council Work Session May 1, 2019 Mayor Johnson announced there was no motion for a Closed Meeting, therefore, the Work Session adjourned at 5:46 p.m. City Council would reconvene for its Regular Meeting at 7:00 p.m. Teste: _____________________________________________ Erika S.
