SUFFOLK LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD Meeting Minutes July 14, 2015 Board Members Present: Others Present: Mrs. Judith Stone, President Mr. Clint S. Secretary Ms. Barbara Banze Mr. Sean Bilby Board Members Absent: Mrs. Nancy Creekmore Mr. Lee Cross Mrs. Ernestine Langston Mrs. Sharon Slate • Mrs. Cindy Robertson, Chief Deputy Clerk, administered the Oath of Office to Mrs. Ernestine Langston at 2:00PM. • The meeting was called to order at 2:05PM by Mrs. Judith Stone, President. • Mrs. Creekmore made a motion to accept the meeting minutes of the April 14th, 2015 meeting. Mr. Bilby seconded the motion, and the minutes were approved by a unanimous vote of 7-0. • Mrs. Nichols made a motion to keep the same slate of officers. Ms. Banze seconded the motion. Mrs. Nichols, current Vice-President, then made a motion for Mr. Bilby for Vice-President. Mrs. Langston seconded the motion and the Library Board unanimously approved by a vote of 7-0: Mrs. Judith Stone, President and Mr. Sean Bilby, Vice-President. • The library has received a State Aid Grant for FY15-16 in the amount of $155,649. • The library has received an additional $1,425 Libraries Transforming Communities Grant. • The Summer Reading Program is going well. We are trying to incorporate health and wellness incentives. • The Literacy Council met in June. They need to purchase materials for students and staff. A letter will be sent to organizations and individuals requesting donations. Tutors are also needed. • Mrs. Stone and Mr. Rudy attended the Health and Human Services Meeting today. • There was no Unfinished Business. • The Library Board reviewed policies for Code of Conduct, Collection Development, and Strategic Plan. Ms. Banze made a motion to accept the policies  with suggested modifications. Mr. Bilby seconded the motion and the policies were approved by a unanimous vote of 7-0. • The second Mystery Author’s Festival will be held Saturday, August 22nd at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts. Volunteers are needed to cover three shifts during the day. • Mr. Bilby suggested the Library Board discuss PR at the next meeting. • The next meeting will be Tuesday, October 13th at 2PM in the Morgan Memorial Library Meeting Room. • With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 3:20PM.
