Library Advisory Board Meetings

SUFFOLK LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES April 14, 2015 Board Members Present: Others Present: Mrs. Judith Stone, President Mr. Clint S. Rudy, Director of Libraries Mrs. Sue Nichols, Vice-President Ms. Carolyn Phelps, Exec. Secretary Ms. Barbara Banze Mr. Sean Bilby Board Members Absent: Mrs. Nancy Creekmore Mr. Lee Cross Mrs. Pam Hill Mrs. Ernestine Langston  The meeting was called to order at 2:10PM by Mrs. Judith Stone, President.  Mr. Bilby made a motion to accept the meeting minutes of the January 13, 2015 meeting as corrected. Mrs. Nichols seconded the motion.  Mr. Rudy noted that this week, April 12 – 18 is National Library Week. He will attend the City Council Meeting April 15th for a Proclamation Presentation of National Library Week.  During National Library Week the library is offering fun things for staff and the public.  Mr. Rudy presented each Library Board Member with a library logo lunch cooler.  The library is partnering with the Suffolk Art Gallery, and all seven cities of Hampton Roads to participate in the 7 Cities, 1 Book project.  Mr. Rudy noted that there are several positions available at the Library. We are interviewing for the positions of outreach services manager, a support services, position, Librarian I and a Part-Time Library Associate.  The Literacy Council admin person is going to collaborate with us on grants.  The Library has received a grant for four 3-D printers.  Mr. Rudy and Mrs. Stone attended the Health and Human Relations Standing Committee meeting. At this meeting a presentation was heard from the Western Tidewater Community Services Board.  Mr. Rudy will draft a letter for the Board’s review to send, from the Chairperson, to City Council members inviting them to a future Suffolk Library Advisory Board meeting.  Mrs. Pam Hill’s term on the Suffolk Library Advisory Board will end June 30, 2015.  The next meeting will be July 14, 2015 at 2PM in the Morgan Memorial Library Meeting Room.  With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 2:45PM
