Library Advisory Board Meetings

SUFFOLK LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD Meeting Minutes July 10, 2018 Board Members Present: Others Present: Mr. Sean Bilby, President Mr. Clint S. Rudy, Director of Libraries Mrs. Nancy Creekmore, Vice-President Ms. Sarah Townsend, Assistant Director Mr. Lee Cross Mrs. Sharon Slate Board Members Absent: Ms. Barbara Banze Mrs. Ernestine Langston Mrs. Sue Nichols  The meeting was called to order at 2:03 PM by Mr. Sean Bilby, President.  Mr. Lee Cross made a motion to accept the meeting minutes of the April 10th, 2018 meeting. Mrs. Slate seconded the motion, and the minutes were approved by a unanimous vote of 4-0.  Clint S. Rudy, Director of Libraries, shared information about upcoming events and classes, the 2018-2019 Library Budget, and other library information.  Suffolk Literacy Council is working on a rebranding effort. A new logo is being designed, which will then be used to influence the design of a new website.  Mr. Bilby and Mr. Rudy attended the Health and Human Services Meeting today. An intern from the City Attorney’s Office presented on the use of Narcan to prevent opioid overdoses.  The Circulation Policy was approved by a vote of 4-0 with Mr. Cross making the motion and Mrs. Slate seconding.  Mr. Rudy shared information about the next steps in the new Downtown Library process including the charrettes and community meetings.  The Strategic Plan was approved by a vote of 4-0 with Mr. Cross making the motion and Mrs. Creekmore seconding.  Ms. Townsend presented information on the reorganization of the North Suffolk Library followed by a tour of the building after adjournment.  The next meeting will be Tuesday, October 9th at 2 PM in the Morgan Memorial Library Meeting Room.  With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 3:20 PM.
